Steam’s expansive library has the power to send a shiver down an unsure player’s spine. Even if you’re able to maneuver past the spammy shovelware and AI-generated key art, you’re still staring down thousands and thousands of potential downloads in any given niche.
Still, smaller budgets and team sizes aside, 2025 is the year of the indie studio. As AAA teams lay off hundreds of workers and choose quick-ship “AI slop” over human creativity, independent developers and publishers are dropping some of the year’s most memorable adventures.
These 10 titles, plucked right from my personal Steam Wishlist, are among my most-anticipated for September 2025. Regardless of your go-to genre or preferred price point, these exciting picks will keep you cozy on the couch as chilly weather creeps in.
