Publisher Acclaim is announcing new details for HYPERyuki Snowboard Syndicate, the upcoming arcade sports game from developer Wabisabi Games.
First revealed during last year’s Play Acclaim Showcase, HYPERyuki: Snowboard Syndicate is a throwback to the over-the-top, stylized extreme sports games from the Y2K era. As a longtime fan of SSX and Jet Set Radio, HYPERyuki looks like it will perfectly scratch that itch, combined with a modern reinterpretation of these classic games.
“We are thrilled and honored by the reception of HYPERyuki,” said Anwar Noriega, CEO and co-founder of Wabisabi Games. “It has been incredible to see players who grew up with 90s and early 2000s classics revisiting those ‘good old days’ through our game. Even more rewarding is watching a new generation, who never experienced that era firsthand, enjoy our title so much.”
At the Latin American Games Showcase, a new trailer, viewable below, was also released.
HYPERyuki Snowboard Syndicate
You can expect a total of three game modes available in HYPERyuki Snowboard Syndicate.
Challenge is the main mode available and will require players to complete various objectives and tackle a high score. It’s an excellent retro arcade-style gameplay mode that will have SSX veterans feeling right at home.
Additionally, you can race against opponents as you snowboard your way down the mountain in the aptly named Race mode. As you’d expect, it’s not just about going as fast as you can, but also pulling off tricks to help build up your boost meter.
Finally, the chill mode will allow you to enjoy the slopes at your own pace. It’s perfect for those looking for a nice, cozy escape from the craziness of Challenge and Race. Friends will be able to join in on the fun as well through both local and online play as well.
There may or may not even be a game mode where you bomb the ski slopes as a sentient snowboarding taco. I can neither confirm nor deny that, but hey, HYPERyuki already had my curiosity, and now it has my attention.
HYPERyuki Snowboard Syndicate is currently slated for a 2026 release on Steam, with additional platforms to follow. A store page is live on Xbox, where you can wishlist the game.
