Pragmata, Resident Evil power Capcom’s impressive Q1 profits

Japanese video game company Capcom released its first-quarter financials, reporting strong sales and rising year-over-year profits thanks to recent hits like Pragmata and its blockbuster Resident Evil franchise. Capcom’s Q1 summary for the three-month period ended June 30, 2026, shows net sales of $429.5 million and net income of $177.5 million, up nearly 55 percent and 69 percent year-over-year, respectively. Additionally, Capcom’s quarterly operating profits surpassed $250 million, a nearly 67 percent jump from year-ago profits. Ordinary profit also climbed to $252.5 million, a year-on-year jump of 81 percent.

Capcom’s new and classic releases aren’t the brand’s only sales drivers; the brand’s newly released financials show arcade and amusement operations performance is also in line with long-term goals. Capcom boasts 62 total stores following the April opening of its Chara Cap/Capsule Lab Hanyu, and now, the company says it will prioritize “[c]ontinued initiatives to enhance the in-store customer experience at existing locations.”

Capcom’s Resident Evil-themed pachislot machine has sold 17,000 units since its May release, and the brand says it “aim[s] to release one new machine per quarter,” each inspired by popular Capcom IPs. The live-action Street Fighter film is headed to theaters this October, an arrival that could help expand “IP awareness.” Capcom is working to achieve this through continued in-game collaborations, competitions, and other strategies.

All in all, Capcom says it’s “on track” to meet full-year forecasts of $1.3 billion in net sales and $367.5 million in net income.

Capcom’s Digital Earnings segment generated $333 million in net sales and $228.7 million in operating profit, revealing respective year-on-year increases of 83 percent and 87.5 percent.

The company’s long-awaited sci-fi adventure, Pragmata, released on PC and console in April 2026, and its impressive sales performance puts it atop the quarterly unit sales ranking list. Pragmata sold 1 million copies in its first 48 hours and a cumulative 2.5 million in the three months since. Accretive sales of Resident Evil Requiem certainly helped Capcom’s Q1 performance; the latest Resident Evil entry has sold more than 8 million units. Capcom appears optimistic about upcoming releases, with the demo for Onimusha: Way of the Sword building hype ahead of its September 4 launch.

Resident Evil Requiem‘s impressive performance isn’t the only good news for the horror IP. In the same three-month period, five other games from the franchise moved more than 1 million copies each. These figures propel lifetime sales of Capcom’s 2019 Resident Evil 2 remake to nearly 20 million, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard to 18.4 million, 2023’s Resident Evil 4 remake to 16.04 million, Village to 15.86 million, and 2020’s Resident Evil 3 remake to 14.52 million. Devil May Cry 5 isn’t far behind, having reached 14 million in cumulative sales. Street Fighter 6 saw “bolstered coordination between its games and esports activities,” achieving 60 million in lifetime sales.

Capcom’s new financials show title unit sales of 21.26 million, a quarterly increase of over 13 million units.
