Dragon’s Dogma 2 has hours and hours of content, and some of the best content lies within the game’s side quests. If you want to know what side quests you should definitely do, this list will let you know some of the best ones.

Warning: there will be minor plot spoilers ahead!

Home Is Where the Hearth Is

Home Is Where The Hearth Is is a quest given to you by Brent. This is part of his main questline at the start of the game, and you’ll be given this quest after Unsettling Encounters. You’re urged to visit Melve, which may seem easy, but it’s quite the opposite. Royal Guards take over the city, so you’ll have to be on your guard to get into the city.

You can get into Melve in multiple ways, and it’s up to you whether you brute force it or handle the situation with a bit more tact.

Shadowed Prayers

Shadowed Prayers can be a pretty intense side quest. Given to you by Menella, you’re entrusted with saving Empress Nadinia, who is at risk of being assassinated. After surviving the first attempt, you have to track down the assassin before they succeed with their second attempt. It can be difficult to identify the assassin correctly, so make sure you choose carefully.

This is one of the best side quests in Bakbattahl, as it will give you a Battahl Residence Permit.

Tensions in the Highroad

While this quest doesn’t give you anything special, it does help introduce you to the Oxcart system more thoroughly. You have to help escort Ser Augustin’s Oxcart, which you will pick up when you get to Bakbattahl for the first time. This Oxcart needs to go back to Vermund. It’s a pretty easy side quest; you just have to ensure no one gets injured during the process.

A Place To Call Home

Mildred NPC in Dragon's Dogma 2

If you want to get your first home in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you can get one early in the game. By speaking with Mildred in Vernworth, she will offer you lodging for a week in her house, as she has to make a trip. All you have to do is rest in her bed eight times so it completes an in-game week, and she will return.

Once she’s returned, you can purchase the house from her for a whopping 20,000 Gold.

Gift of the Bow

If you’re a fan of elves, you’re going to love this quest. You get to encounter Glynwyr, a beautiful, lone elf wandering the streets of Vernworth. To complete the quest, you must approach him in Vernworth and give him a human-made bow. To complete it, you need to be an archer; otherwise, you won’t be able to do it. Luckily, changing vocation is incredibly easy.

By completing this quest, you will unlock more quests with him later down the line as you continue to explore the vast world of Dragon’s Dogma 2.

A Game of Wits

Sphinx in Dragon's Dogma 2

The Sphinx has some of the best side quests in Dragon’s Dogma 2. If you’re a fan of riddles, then you’ll enjoy the challenge she brings you. Once you have encountered the Sphinx in the Mountain Shrine, you can pick up the quest A Game of Wits. From there, you have to answer ten riddles correctly and get plenty of rewards for completing them.

However, the Sphinx will abandon the game if you fail to complete them correctly. If you don’t answer them correctly, you won’t have another chance, so be confident with your answers.

Hunt for the Jadeite Orb

This side quest takes place in the Checkpoint Rest Town. Two men are both looking for the Jadeite Orb. You have to make the difficult decision of deciding who you want to assist, whether it be Everard or Offulve.

However, you also have the option to duplicate it with the Sphinx, meaning you can give them both a Jadeite Orb or a forgery. The choice is yours.

The Phantom Oxcart

If you’re a fan of stealth missions, then you’re sure to love this Dragon’s Dogma 2 side quest. While personally, I’m not a huge fan of stealth in games, I did enjoy this side quest. You have to investigate a phantom Oxcart that has been mentioned in Vernworth. It makes rounds through several different areas, so you’ll have to work to track it down.

If you successfully pull this quest off without getting caught, you will be rewarded for your efforts.

Oxcart Courier

Oxcart Courier is one of the first side quests in Dragon’s Dogma 2, which takes place in Vernworth. You have to quickly make your way to Melve to deliver a letter from Ser Lennart to Lady Margit. However, to be able to complete this quest, you have to make sure that you are near the Oxcart in the early morning, as that is the only time they travel.

Completing this quest will unlock more quests for you to complete. If you’re a completionist or want to complete as many side quests as possible, completing this one is a good way to do it.

Claw Them Into Shape

Male Beastren in Dragon's Dogma 2

This particular side quest takes place once you reach the Borderwatch Outpost. There, you’ll meet a Beastren called Beren. Then, you’ll be asked to procure weapons to help him train his troops.

Completing this quest allows you to unlock the ultimate skill for the Warrior vocation.

Brothers Brave and Timid

Ulrika in Dragon's Dogma 2

You have to help Ian find his brother Norbert, who went on a dangerous expedition to find some herbs. This quest is relatively easy to unlock, as you can find Ian once you’ve woken up in Ulrika’s house. It’s also a simple quest to complete, as you have to escort Ian and keep him safe while he is on the hunt for his brother.

While it doesn’t open up any other quests, once you’ve successfully rescued Norbert, you will meet them again in another side quest.

Prey for the Pack

Fighting goblins in Dragon's Dogma 2

This quest revolves around helping Morris, whose grandson was taken by a pack of wolves. Compared to most of the quests on this list, this one is time-sensitive, so you want to make sure you are completing this quest with haste.

If you find Rodge alive, you have to make sure to escort him back to town on foot. However, his AI can be a little unwieldy, so you can carry him back to town if that is easier for you. Should you dilly-dally along the way, prepare to break the news to Morris that his grandson is dead.

A Trial of Archery

If you fall in love with Glyndwr, this quest will fill you with joy. You get to spend more time with the elf, as well as working to save his sister, Doireann, who was taken by an ogre. You either save her or fail to save her.

Should you succeed, you get some pretty great rewards. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about if you fail.

 Shepherd of the Pawns

Stone Construct emerging in Dragon's Dogma 2

Shepherd of the Pawns is a relatively late-game quest that takes place at the Excavation site. You have to help Henrique defeat a Stone Construct to ensure that all of the Pawns in the area escape safely.

There are multiple endings to this side quest, making it one of the more interesting side quests in Dragon’s Dogma 2. How you choose to resolve this quest is entirely up to you.

‘Twixt a Rock and a Hard Place

This quest takes place in Bakbattahl and the Volcanic Island Camp. You meet a young Beastren in Bakbattahl who asks you to deliver a letter to Ernesto in the Volcanic Island Camp. The quest is pretty easy to complete and won’t take long. Once you’ve completed it, you’ll be rewarded with a Ferrystone and some Gold, which is always helpful.

Tolled To Rest

If you want to complete some side quests that put you into the thick of it, Tolled to Rest is the perfect Dragon’s Dogma 2 side quest. You have to help Oskar on the road to the Ancient Battleground from being attacked while you escort him back to his post.

This quest is pretty helpful to complete, as it rewards you with the Ancient Battleground key.

The Nameless Village

Brent in Dragon's Dogma 2

This quest is pretty juicy, as you have to speak to Brent about the false Sovran. After completing his Monster Culling side quest, you are given this one, which is a side quest that takes place relatively early on in the game. You are sent on a journey to discover a bizarre village, which plays a huge part in the false Sovran’s storyline. Queen Disa pays the village a large sum of money for a specific type of flower, and it’s up to you to figure out what she is using it for.

Vocation Frustration

Combat in Dragon's Dogma 2

Vocation Frustration is a quest that happens early in Dragon’s Dogma 2. However, it is one of the most useful. Searching the Trevo Mine, you find weapons to help restock the Vernworth Vocation Guild. By doing so, you unlock the Sorcerer and Warrior vocations, allowing you to add some more variety to your group composition.

The Ornate Box

Vernworth party in Dragon's Dogma 2

The Ornate Box is a relatively small side quest early in Dragon’s Dogma 2. This quest can be found in Vernworth, where a young boy struggles to scrounge the money for an Ornate Box. You can either buy it for him or lend the money to him, should you want to help him.

When you eventually see him again, and he offers to pay you back, you get quite the bounty of rewards. This makes this quest worth doing in the early game, as it gives you some great supplies to help you on your journey.

A Candle in the Storm

Nadinia in Dragon's Dogma 2

Completing Shadowed Prayers will unlock this side quest for you. With a plot created by Menella, you have to work towards finding out who the mastermind is behind the assassination attempts on Empress Nadinia. There are multiple outcomes for this quest, and it all depends on whether you want to be the hero or the bad guy in this situation.

The choice is entirely up to you.

That concludes our list of the best side quests in Dragon’s Dogma 2. What is your favorite side quest to complete if you’ve played this game?
