If you’ve somehow got the emotional bandwidth for more Grand Theft Auto-related rumors, you’re in luck.
According to a RockstarINTEL report, GTA Forums user and rumored Rockstar insider Tez2 says a revitalized version of 2008’s Grand Theft Auto IV might come to current-generation consoles before the end of 2025.
The unidentified source, whose account on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) boasts more than 400,000 followers, also reported that Rockstar has been working on the Grand Theft Auto IV port for about a year.
“Someone at R* hinted at the IV port, and by now it should’ve gone up a year in development. We may end up seeing it drop later this year,” Tez2 said when asked about the potential for the game’s remaster.
The insider also says Rockstar Games likely shut down the “Liberty City Preservation Project,” a popular GTA V mod with a comprehensive public transportation system and other immersive features, due to its potential to stifle interest in the rumored port.
“And it’s one more reason, in addition to existing reasons, the LCPP mod was taken down,” the user reported.
Tez2 also claimed that, provided the brand is still “[following] their plan laid out from the pandemic days,” a port of Max Payne 3 will likely release after Grand Theft Auto 4. “If they still follow their plan laid out from the pandemic days, they’ll do an MP3 port after IV. So that is an opportunity to do a bundle or a Definitive Edition. Max Payne 1 & 2 remakes, and a Max Payne 3 port.”
The insider’s info jibes wth Remedy’s upcoming Max Payne remakes, which the studio stated are currently in production.
