There’s been a lot of great games released this year, and tonight’s Game Awards looks to highlight the best of the best.
SteamDB is starting the party early by unveiling the best-rated games released this year on Steam.
Balatro, the poker-inspired roguelike, leads the way with a 96.77% positive rating. The breakout indie game has been nothing but nonstop success, selling over 3.5 million copies. Its revenue spiked after it was nominated for tonight’s Game Awards show.
Webfishing, a fishing social simulator compared to Nintendo’s Animal Crossing franchise, is second with a rating of 96.65%. The WereCleaner, Sheepy: A Short Adventure, and Satisfactory round out the top five.
There are two other big name games on the list, though we might be stretching it with one of them. First, there’s Black Myth: Wukong, the Dark Souls-inspired action RPG released over the summer. Like Balatro, the game hopes for a big night at The Game Awards.
Right behind it is TCG Card Shop Simulator, which briefly took the world by storm. Given the resurgence in popularity of trading card games, thanks to Pokemon, Magic: the Gathering, and Disney Lorcana, this isn’t much of a surprise.
Fields of Mistria, Paper Lily – Chapter 1, and 20 Small Mazes round out the top ten. SteamDB has tracked the rating of thousands of games released this year, highlighting the success of titles like Animal Well, Palworld, Hades II, Anomaly Agent, and more.
