Fans of the 2020 role-playing game Cyberpunk 2077 have had their chromed-out fingers crossed for more fresh content since the Phantom Liberty DLC dropped, but a new statement from studio CD Projekt RED is urging fans to keep those hard-earned eddies in savings just a little longer.
On Monday, official social media accounts for the mammoth technodystopian RPG published a brief Bluesky post regarding the title’s 2.3 update, previously expected to drop on Thursday, June 26.
“Hey chooms,” the post reads, addressing fans with an in-game term of endearment. “We initially hoped to put Update 2.3 in your hands on June 26. However, we’ll need some more time to make sure we’re happy with it – we’re aiming for a scope similar to Update 2.2. We’ll update you further as soon as we can! We appreciate your patience!”
Pawel Sasko, Associate Game Director for CD Projekt RED’s Cyberpunk 2, reassured franchise fans on Bluesky that the update requires just a bit more time to cook. “Need a little more time in the oven my chooms,” Sasko said. “Making sure it’s done well and polished for you. Much love, thank you for your passion for our game — it’s incredibly motivating and inspiring.”
At the time of writing, the studio has not yet released a tentative release window for the new content. However, the team’s 2.2 patch comparison likely boosts Night City denizens’ optimism. In addition to mending some bugs, the 2.2 update introduced several slick new rides, expansive customization options, a snazzier Photo Mode, and even some Balatro-inspired Easter eggs hidden throughout Night City.
Delays can be disappointing, but if the next refresh is anything like the last, the wait will be worth it. Grab a barstool at Afterlife and order a Johnny Silverhand — or three — to tide yourself over ’til then.
