ASUS accidentally lists sky-high ROG Xbox Ally prices

Taiwanese Tech brand ASUS has reportedly accidentally leaked the retail value of its upcoming ROG Xbox Ally handhelds.

The premature reveal, purportedly shared via ASUS’s online storefront, showed sticker prices of both the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X. The long-anticipated hardware is a joint venture between Xbox parent company Microsoft and multinational electronics manufacturer ASUS.

According to Vice, Spanish outlet 3DJuegos reported that ASUS inadvertently shared the prices in a Google preview. The report also claims the tech brand’s untimely leak lines up with pricing information that circulated last month.

The leaked pricing for both the ROG Xbox Ally Z2 and Z2 A is listed in Euros — €599 and €899, respectively. While there’s no pricing verification from either brand, a quick conversion means stateside gamers will shell out a respective $699 and $1,050 for the devices. Comparatively, ASUS’s current-gen offerings retail for around $649 and $899.

As costs associated with gaming continue to rise, compounded by fluctuating tariffs, global inflation, and AAA companies’ reckless push toward endless year-on-year growth, many players around the globe are using social media to rally against widening hobby paywalls. Most recently, fan feedback regarding Nintendo’s Switch 2 handheld pushed brand leaders to address consumer concerns at a shareholder Q&A.

Ultimately, we’ll have to wait for explicit pricing confirmation from either Microsoft’s gaming division or ASUS itself. Still, as personal hardware and software rise in cost, we’re likely to hear more frustrated gamers raise their voices, too.
