On Tuesday, Asus Republic of Gamers (ROG) announced its slick new collaboration with Kojima Productions, the renowned game studio led by industry icon Hideo Kojima (Metal Gear, Death Stranding). The all-new ROG x Kojima Productions accessory collection follows the duo’s eye-popping ROG Flow Z13-KJP gaming laptop and introduces three peripherals: the ROG Delta II-KJP headset, ROG Keris II Origin-KJP mouse, and ROG Scabbard II XXL-KJP mouse pad. The brands’ boundary-pushing peripherals are designed “for those who dare,” the ASUS ROG webpage reads.
The contemporary designs, all inspired by Kojima Productions’ mascot Ludens, evoke its “‘Turing pattern’-like” motif. While Ludens represents Kojima’s brand, the mascot is the product of famed studio art director Yoji Shinkawa. Fans of the artist’s technical style will find inspiration throughout the product’s design, from packaging to customization capabilities. “I wanted to create a gadget that belongs to Ludens and I integrated that into this PC design. Parts and designs are inspired by Ludens and has its essence,” says Shinkawa.
Of note, however, are the prices associated with Kojima Productions and ASUS ROG’s new collab. Retail values for consumer tech, including peripherals like these, have recently spiked due to the Trump administration’s ebbing-and-flowing tech tariffs and rising component costs. While a PC mouse isn’t at risk during a RAM shortage, manufacturing costs are also up, throwing another affordability wrench in North American consumers’ gaming-related purchase plans.
