‘Battlefield 6’ reveal trailer announced

The studio behind tenured tactical shooter franchise Battlefield is (finally) gearing up for the series’ latest release: Battlefield 6.

“BATTLEFIELD 6. July 24. Reveal Trailer,” reads a post on X (formerly Twitter) from the verified Battlefield account. In addition to the bite-sized announcement, the team added a tiny, 10-second “Save the Date”-like clip teasing the forthcoming full-length spot.

The clip shows four soldiers standing in the foreground, a city reduced to burning rubble behind them. As the image glitches and flickering text reveals the trailer’s arrival date, jets soar loudly overhead. While the studio likely won’t divulge setting-related details, the flaming infrastructure bears a striking resemblance to the Big Apple’s Brooklyn Bridge.

One theory, posited by GameSpot, claims the “four soldiers likely point to the return of Battlefield’s traditional class system in Battlefield 6, including Assault, Engineer, Support, and Recon. The thumbnail image also shows a bridge bearing a resemblance to New York’s Brooklyn Bridge, along with a city surrounded by water. Thus far, the franchise has (mostly) avoided the inclusion of real-world U.S. cities, but if history is any indication, Battlefield 6‘s potential setting could similarly polarize would-be players.

This announcement isn’t the only word we’ve heard from Battlefield Studios this week. On Monday, June 21, the game’s X account floated the prospect of varied weapon classes by its followers. “Open Weapons vs Closed Weapons,” the post starts, “Why not both? Starting at Open Beta players can choose official playlists with Signature Weapons locked to class, or not. More to come.”

The well-known franchise first launched in 2002 with World War II-centered FPS Battlefield 1942, a success among critics and consumers — my father, principal among them. Overwhelmingly positive reception gave way to spinoffs and sequels, all of which later became entries in the now-extensive IP. The upcoming first-person shooter is the handiwork of Electronic Arts’ supergroup-like Battlefield Studios, an all-new franchise-specific division. The team comprises industry talent from DICE and three other heavy-hitting EA subsidiaries: Criterion Games, Motive Studio, and Ripple Effect.

According to the description on Battlefield 6‘s Reveal Trailer, fans can learn more about “the ultimate all-out warfare experience” by tuning into Battlefield Studios’ full YouTube broadcast on Thursday, July 24, 2025, just before 11 a.m. EDT.
