Lights, camera, action! From now until September 10, Nintendo is offering some big discounts on even bigger hits in its new Blockbuster Sale. The highlighted titles include some of the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2‘s most notable first-party hits as well as highly-rated releases from third-party developers and publishers.
Until next Wednesday, September 10, players perusing the Nintendo eShop can pick up old faves or newer drops for up to 50% off the games’ original retail prices. Check out some of my personal top picks:
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4

ORIGINAL PRICE: $49.99
‘BLOCKBUSTER SALE’ PRICE: $37.49
Any millennial or early Gen Xer knows their way around the Warehouse, but the reimagined 3 + 4 adds contemporary gameplay elements to a Y2K-era classic. From Bam Margera’s anticipated return as a playable character to a reinvigorated soundtrack that pairs true-to-franchise 90s punk with more recent hardcore and hip-hop hits.
If you’re gonna grab this one, grab it now! This is one of the better prices I’ve seen for 3 + 4 since its early summer release.
SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS

ORIGINAL PRICE: $49.99
‘BLOCKBUSTER SALE’ PRICE: $29.99
Our guy Shadow hadn’t gotten his due since his time as the protagonist in 2005’s Shadow the Hedgehog. After about two decades, he’s back at it in Sonic X Shadow Generations — and he’s at his best. This game is among the better Sonic franchise entries in recent memory, and is still just as much a breeze when you go back for a second playthrough.
The 3D sidescroller/platformer utilizes familiar Sonic mechanics, all made more satisfying by unlocking access to special areas, skill progression, slick visuals, and Shadow’s ability to tinker with time itself.
Spyro + Crash Remastered Game Bundle

ORIGINAL PRICE: $74.99
‘BLOCKBUSTER SALE’ PRICE: $26.24
As someone who purchased both remastered trilogies separately, I’m a little bummed I hadn’t heard about the joint collection ’til now because I definitely paid more than $26. My good deed for the day is now to tell YOU about the bundle.
Spyro and Crash Bandicoot, two of the most recognizable gaming mascots in the medium’s history, have gotten some facelifts in the remasters, but rest assured, they’re exactly as you remember them. Get a renewed view of Spyro‘s pastel skies during that familiar cross-canyon flight to a hidden Dragon Egg. Likewise, each well-executed double-jump and crushed crate is just as satisfying as it was on the OG PlayStation.

We Love Katamari REROLL+ Royal Reverie Special Edition

ORIGINAL PRICE: $39.99
‘BLOCKBUSTER SALE’ PRICE: $9.99
With the all-new Once Upon a Katamari in our futures, there’s really no better time than now to dust off that Katamari and get rollin’. This special lil’ bundle, however, comes with more than just that main game; players also get Little Prince and Little King Costumes and a special series music pack when they pick up the collection.
…What’re you still sittin’ there for? Those stars ain’t gonna save themselves!
It Takes Two

ORIGINAL PRICE: $39.99
‘BLOCKBUSTER SALE’ PRICE: $19.99
Grab two Joy-Cons, someone special, and some tissues (trust me, you’ll need ’em).
In Hazelight Studios’ storybook-like adventure, It Takes Two, you and your Player 2 will assume the roles of a couple inching closer and closer to divorce. Help the two do anything it takes to repair their relationship. The brilliant minds behind this co-op classic are also the folks behind Split Fiction, another mind-blowing two-person platformer.
Disco Elysium – The Final Cut

ORIGINAL PRICE: $39.99
‘BLOCKBUSTER SALE’ PRICE: $11.99
If you consider yourself a fan of gritty mysteries and rich, reactive storytelling, then boy, do I have a game for you!
Disco Elysium is a revolutionary role-playing game that places players in the role of a detective, but unlike many other RPGs, there’s not much combat. Instead, gamers have to nail skill checks and dialogue-based interactions to progress. In The Final Cut, devs applied players’ feedback to enhance the game.
Red Dead Redemption

ORIGINAL PRICE: $49.99
‘BLOCKBUSTER SALE’ PRICE: $29.99
The Red Dead franchise is among the greatest American Western epics ever told.
The discounted version of Rockstar Games’ remastered Red Dead Redemption features the single-player campaigns from both the base game and “Undead Nightmare,” the tangential zombie horror that takes the in-game world from rugged to rabid. Players also get bonus content from the Game of the Year Edition.
Bugsnax

ORIGINAL PRICE: $24.99
‘BLOCKBUSTER SALE’ PRICE: $8.49
If you really enjoyed Pokémon Snap! as a kid, you’re gonna have a blast with Bugsnax.
Bugsnax takes curious critter hunters to Snaktooth Island, where they’ll find the titular half-bug, half-snack creatures. After the explorer who invited you to the island goes missing, you’re left to unearth the mystery behind their disappearance, as well as figure out what, exactly, Bugsnax are.
Explore, discover, complete challenges, hunt, customize, collect — there’s so much to do!
Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition

ORIGINAL PRICE: $23.99
‘BLOCKBUSTER SALE’ PRICE: $59.99
While I can’t personally vouch for how this looks on a Nintendo Switch, I can say the price is worth finding out. For $24, players nab Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. We’ve got about 9 months to study up on GTA lore before the series’ sixth installment drops. The best time to get started was yesterday, but the second-best is now.
The Jackbox Party Trilogy

ORIGINAL PRICE: $59.99
‘BLOCKBUSTER SALE’ PRICE: $29.99
You probably haven’t thought about YOU DON’T KNOW JACK in at least 15 years. If you’re under like, 25, you have no clue what I’m talking about.
Jackbox Party Packs are a slightly edgier YDKJ for the social media age. No controllers needed; these hilarious party game anthologies are played using smartphones or tablets as stand-ins.
