Just over one year after its release, American games publisher Activision has removed Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile from iOS and Android app stores.
The mobile adaptation, released in March 2024, was a joint venture spanning several Activision subsidiaries, including Beenox, Solid State, and others. Though the smartphone version supported shared progression with PC and console Warzone iterations, the company reported last week that it was “not meeting expectations.”
A new Activision release detailing the now-defunct game’s departure thanks gamers for their interest and expands on the mobile title’s imminent wind-down:
“Thank you for your dedication and passion for Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile. The scope of the game is being streamlined and will stop delivering new seasonal content and gameplay updates. Effective immediately, players will no longer be able to spend real currency in the mobile game. Existing COD Point balances can continue to be spent in the in-game Store. Sunday, May 18, 2025, will be the last day the game can be downloaded from the Google Play and Apple’s App Store and social features across all platforms will be retired.”
The game was officially removed from iOS and Android mobile storefronts yesterday, May 18. Gamers who’ve already downloaded it can still enjoy online matches for the time being, but Activision says it will no longer receive updates. “Players who have the game installed before Monday, May 19, 2025, will still have access to the mobile game with continued cross-progression of shared inventories using existing content, and servers with matchmaking for online play,” reads Activision’s breakdown. “However, new seasonal content and gameplay updates, the ability to purchase content in-game using real currency, and social features across all platforms will not be available.”
Warzone Mobile is the franchise’s second mobile release, though the other release, 2019’s Call of Duty: Mobile, remains operational.
As for when servers will shutter, no date has been formally announced. Activision says that “servers for online play will remain available and we will notify players of any changes.”
Per Activision, no refunds will be issued “for previously purchased in-game content or unused COD Points. However, you can continue to enjoy the content if you have the game installed before May 19, 2025.”
