Indie game publisher tinyBuild and developer Come On Studio released a free update for their hit cozy home renovation game, Hozy. The brand-new update introduces armchair designers to two modes — Game Plus and Sandbox — both of which augment Hozy‘s already rich renovation capabilities. In Hozy, players are quasi-contractors working to zhuzh an old neighborhood. Between moments of unabashed creativity and smug satisfaction following a job well done, players also connect with the community and its residents.
Game devs introduced the content update in a message to players on Steam. “Hello, renovators! We’re thrilled to be able to share with you the latest update for Hozy, featuring the rest of the Game Plus Levels and our first version of Sandbox Mode!”
Designers can put their imagination to the test in this “highly requested” mode. Players begin by choosing from a handful of empty starter rooms to curate, and from there, they can decorate freely using any furniture, wall colors, window treatments, and flooring. If limitless design options weren’t tempting enough, Hozy‘s new Sandbox Mode goes one step further; players can now add background scenes, modify structures’ exterior, install supports, and duplicate items for complete coordination.
Hozy devs say Sandbox Mode isn’t finished yet, either. “We are just getting started, so you’ll be able to expect further updates in future, including the ability to change the actual geometry of the room.”

Game Plus, which devs introduced in Hozy‘s 1.1 update last month, allows designers to revisit past works and make “[c]hanges to each level […] things like new furniture sets, the option to select day or night mode, new music variations, and even entirely new environments, like a cafe transforming into a music lounge.”
On May 21, Come On Studio and tinyBuild teased what’s to come in the “Hozy Roadmap.” Among those additions is free DLC, scheduled for sometime this September, which will bring “three new levels and an update to Sandbox Mode.” Other free seasonal content updates will launch later this year ahead of Halloween, devs say.
“Halloween spookiness? Check. Christmas decorations? Check. Valentine’s hearts? Check. We’ll be releasing fun seasonal updates with new decorative items for a range of festivities and holidays, giving you the chance to celebrate some of your favourite occasions in-game. The first of these exciting updates will be coming just in time for Halloween, so get ready for plenty of treats (no tricks though, we wouldn’t do that to you)!”
Check out the Hozy update trailer and get to work on your own designs in Hozy, available now on Windows PC via Steam and macOS for $14.99. For more info, hop into Hozy‘s dedicated Discord or follow on other social media platforms, like Bluesky.
