Creatives at Polish game studio CD Projekt RED are commemorating a new milestone: Cyberpunk 2077‘s expansion, Phantom Liberty, has officially moved 10 million units.

The action RPG’s official X account thanked dedicated fans in a celebratory post. “Espionage is a high-risk game that 10 MILLION of you have come to know stepping into Dogtown. To all our Vs out there, thank you for joining us on the ride. Keep tearin’ it up in the Big Leagues, chooms.”

The paid DLC was released in September 2023, three years after the base game first hit traditional and digital retailers.

In an official news release detailing Phantom Liberty sales figures, Joint CD PROJEKT CEO Michał Nowakowski celebrated the base game’s spot as a launch title for Nintendo’s Switch 2, slated for release worldwide on June 5 — barring any Trump tariff-related complications, of course. “This result fills us with great satisfaction – especially given that a new addition is about to join our Cyberpunk portfolio – on 5 June the game’s Ultimate Edition will be coming to the new Nintendo Switch 2 console … It’s worth noting that for the first time ever one of our games will become a launch title for a brand new platform.”

Additionally, the studio not only confirmed its super-secretive “Project Orion” was, indeed, an internal nickname for its rumored Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, but verified the game’s successor is now in pre-production. “Several weeks ago the CD PROJEKT RED team responsible for the next big game set in the Cyberpunk universe completed the project’s conceptual phase. As a result, Cyberpunk 2 – previously known under the codename Project Orion – has progressed to preproduction.”

Now, hold your horses, choom — the action-packed game’s sequel isn’t coming anytime soon.

In new audio from a studio investor presentation (via GamesRadar), Nowakowski estimated the studio’s “journey” from pre-production to release date is a five-year ordeal. “Our journey from pre-production to the final release date takes four to five years on average … each project is unique and there are many variables that influence the final outcome, I will not lead you into specific years.”
