Acclaimed dystopian RPG Cyberpunk 2077 got its latest update just days ago, and the “Chooms” behind the gritty, futuristic hit are already giving us more.
On Tuesday, studio CD Projekt RED announced its new “You Are What You Drive! Photo Mode Contest.” The emoji-packed post, shared via the game’s official social media accounts, touches on what competing car enthusiasts can expect:
“🚘 You Are What You Drive! 🚘 The new Photo Mode Contest is on, and it’s all about you,” the post reads. “Your V. Your ride. Your vibe. 🫵 Need backup? Invite your NPC squad. Take a shot and win some sweet loot! 🎁”
The visually striking role-playing game already featured a comprehensive in-game Photo Mode, but the new, well-timed patch ups the ante. Alongside four sleek, unique rides obtainable via new Side Jobs, devs issued car model-related color scheme fixes, expanded CrystalCoat applicability, and launched a new autonomous AutoDrive feature with mode-specific Cinematic Camera capabilities.
Miscellaneous Photo Mode improvements include added stickers, quotes, and frames, enhanced depth of field, a new Color Balance feature, mid-photo sesh outfit swap abilities, 27 new mode-specific NPC spawns, and more.

Cyberpunk 2077‘s website breaks down competitor requirements as well as entry guidelines, judge criteria, and submission deadlines. “With the Update 2.3 rolled out, you’ve got a whole new toolbox to express yourself … Now, it’s your turn to hit the streets and show us you. Your mission is simple, choom — the perfect shot. Create a photo in which your V and a vehicle form a stylistic unity.”
According to contest rules, entrants must:
- Capture submissions using only the in-game Photo Mode;
- “Get creative” using Update 2.3’s new vehicles, tools, and NPCs;
- Express yourself, “visually and emotionally”;
- Save entries in PNG or JPG format;
- Show “Contestant matching outfit with their car.”
Conversely, competing photogs must not:
- Edit in-game shots using third-party software, though “flipping or cropping” is acceptable;
- Submit more than one photo.
The contest just began, but you might want to hurry up, Choom — entrants must submit shots before 11:59 p.m. CEST on August 11, 2025, via the contest Discord channel. The game’s team of “photo-mode-savvy judges” will choose five winning entries, which they’ll reveal by the end of August 2025. Winners won’t walk away with “eddies,” but according to the contest’s complete ruleset, they’ll get their hands on figurines, comics, accessories, and other loot.
