Dad-Approved Nintendo Switch Games for Father’s Day

Nintendo’s all-new Switch 2 handheld hit shelves on June 5 — just 10 days before Father’s Day, to the delight of gamer dads nationwide. If a dad near and dear to your (very generous) heart was able to secure a console of their very own, you can really impress ’em with a download code for some must-have game releases.

The Switch 2 is still in its infancy, so there aren’t many brand-new titles available. But countless Switch 2-exclusive pre-orders, re-releases, as well as backwards-compatible titles for the OG Switch will surely make a super gift for the fatherly Nintendo fan in your life. And don’t worry — these 10 titles range from budget buys to brand-new full-price titles.

If you haven’t gotten the record-setting Nintendo Switch 2 yet, that’s OK, too! Some of these titles are (or will be) available on the original Switch handheld.

PRE-ORDER: Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4

Good knees are not necessary! Most Millennials probably already have the highly anticipated remake on their wishlist, so beat Dad to the punch this time with a download code.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 releases on July 11, 2025, but you can pre-order via the Nintendo Switch 2 eShop. Pick up a digital copy of the base game for $49.99 or the digital Deluxe Edition for $69.99.

AVAILABLE NOW: Arcade Archives 2 RIDGE RACER

Is a Dad in your life feeling nostalgic or missing the arcade? If so, this racing throwback is available now for just $16.99 on the Nintendo Switch 2 eShop.

This oldie-but-goodie is sure to catapult Dad back to the arcade cabinet, but this time, no coins are needed.

PRE-ORDER: GEX Trilogy

Gen Xers come equipped with many a witty quip already, so securing Dad copy of this scaly smart-aleck’s long-awaited return is a no-brainer.

GEX Trilogy drops on June 16, 2025. Pre-order the smart-alecky gecko’s return for $29.99 in the Nintendo eShop.

AVAILABLE NOW: FANTASY LIFE i: The Girl Who Steals Time

Pick up a digital copy of this super-popular slow-life RPG for your OG Nintendo Switch or Switch 2 via the Nintendo eShop. The standard digital download for the OG Switch will run players $59.99, whereas the Switch 2 version is available for $62.58.

If you’ve only got a copy of Fantasy Life i for your OG Switch but not your new device, the Upgrade Pack retails for just $2.59.

AVAILABLE NOW: Mario Kart World

Mario Kart World digital download is among the console’s most expensive new releases, retailing for $79.99. Still, Mario Kart is good, clean fun that the whole family can enjoy.

Bear in mind that the already-steep price tag will not include a physical cartridge; all digital versions are just that, and will only add a title to the Switch user’s “Virtual Game Card” library.

AVAILABLE NOW: No Man’s Sky

Right now, the Nintendo Switch 2 digital download of No Man’s Sky is just $23.99 on the Nintendo eShop. Before you spend more than you have to, fans with a copy of No Man’s Sky for the OG Switch can pick up the Upgrade Pack for free.

AVAILABLE NOW: Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition

This colossal dystopian RPG is finally available to Nintendo loyalists. The steeper price — $69.99 for a digital download — is a little shocking at first, especially for a nearly five-year-old game. But if Dad hasn’t visited Night City yet, we suggest it.

Be aware that this one’s a Switch 2 exclusive; there are no Upgrade Packs available, as Cyberpunk 2077 never saw a Switch release. This one’s definitely more adult-oriented, so check the ESRB or your go-to parent guide before sharing with the kids.

AVAILABLE NOW: Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut

The Yakuza franchise finally gave Nintendo gamers another taste, and this time around, they’re getting special content unavailable on any other console.

Dad can join Kazuma Kiryu and Goro Majima in the streets of 1980s Japan for just $49.99 via the Nintendo eShop. This one’s a Switch 2 exclusive, however, and cannot be played using the OG Switch handheld. This sometimes-vulgar beat-’em-up gets brutal, so we advise Dad to keep this one to himself.

PRE-ORDER: Date Everything!

This viral indie dating sim lets in-game homeowners befriend, flirt, and fight with anthropomorphic versions of everyday household items like sinks, switches, and circuit breaker boxes.

Date Everything! drops June 17, 2025, for just $26.99, but due to some sensitive dialogue, we say pick this one up after the kiddos have hit the hay.

AVAILABLE NOW: Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack

A Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership, available for just $49.99 yearly, will send the wistful, “remember when”-ing Dad in your life back to his favorite retro titles. A subscription lets users play their favorite modern releases online with friends, as well as gives them access to countless old-school entries from their favorite Nintendo systems of yore.
