Date Everything! rings in first anniversary with new ‘Self Care’ update

Happy (almost) first anniversary to Date Everything!, the offbeat indie dating sim sandbox that dominated livestreams last summer. To kick off festivities ahead of the game’s official one-year anniversary on June 17, developer Sassy Chap Games and publisher Team17 announced in a sentimental Steam update on Thursday that they would release a celebratory content update for both PC and consoles.

“It’s been a whole year since you first set out with your pair of Dateviators to find love in all the right (and wrong) places. We can’t thank you enough for your support, passion, and feedback. You’ve stolen our hearts.

“To celebrate our anniversary, we’ve collected some of your most requested fixes and features to deliver the ultimate Date Everything! experience, made possible by you!”

The new “Self Care Update” contains a ton of quality-of-life improvements, including additional, more nuanced player responses, “Screenshot Mode,” enhanced accessibility settings, and more.

In Date Everything!, gamers play a disillusioned employee at an online retail giant whose world changes completely when a pair of mysterious rose-colored “Dateviator” shades appear on their front doorstep. Put the ‘specs on, and every object in your house (yes, every) springs to life in human form.

Your new roommates — over 100 of ’em, all fully voiced — each have their own unique personality on full display, with tongue-in-cheek character designs evocative of their regular role in the house. From your water heater to your windows, build relationships of all kinds using countless dialogue options. Flesh out each character’s storyline to achieve one of multiple endings! Tread lightly, though, as some freshly human faces might not be too happy to see you. It’s up to you to turn those relationships around (or totally burn those bridges; that’s cool, too).

At the time of writing, Date Everything! boasts a “Very Positive” player average on Steam, with more than 5,600 positive English-language reviews.
