Open-world MMO Dune: Awakening from developer Funcom is heading to Windows PC on May 20. The base game will retail for $49.99. The title taps into the 1965 dystopic sci-fi epic and modern interpretations, incorporating elements from Frank Herbert’s 1965 novel and Denis Villeneuve’s silver-screen adaptations.
Another exciting development for PC gamers? They can start creating their Dune: Awakening player characters now. The Character Creation & Benchmark Mode is already on Steam, and users can import their creations into Dune: Awakening upon launch. The immersive character creator mirrors the IP’s human-identifying Gom Jabbar test. Additionally, players can utilize Benchmark Mode to assess hardware compatibility.
Despite this double dose of good news for PC players, the trailer clarifies that its arrival date for the Xbox and PlayStation has yet to be determined.
Pre-orders for the game start soon. Early birds who fly to Steam and reserve their copy will receive exclusive rewards, including the Terrarium of Muad’Dib, used to house its namesake desert mouse. Folks downloading the Character Creator & Benchmark Mode will walk away with a unique Frameblade knife skin they can import on launch day.
