Heading to Arrakis on May 20? Not anymore.
According to an update from Funcom, Dune: Awakening‘s release date is getting bumped from its original mid-May date to June 10. Funcom says its head start early access offering is scheduled for June 5.
Though just a three-week extension, these 21 days give devs a little more time to make fixes informed by beta tester feedback.
In a statement issued on digital game distributor Steam, Funcom says Awakening needs “a bit more time to cook.” Beta testers and devs communicate in “a very active Discord … where our developers can interact directly with them to ensure we collaboratively make Dune: Awakening a better game.”
Funcom’s “ongoing Persistent Closed Beta is also continuing in full force, with regular updates, and the feedback we’ve been collecting from beta testers has been invaluable in making sure we can launch a quality game.”
Additionally, Funcom says fans can find out more on its Steam, YouTube, and Twitch livestreams scheduled for today.

Dune: Awakening has generated some intense hype from devoted franchise fans since its official reveal in August 2024.
According to Funcom, the open-world MMO is a “beast of a game,” boasting immersive maps, character customization, rich storytelling, and collaborative capabilities that allow players to channel their inner Lisan al Gaib.
To prepare gamers for launch, the kind folks at Funcom made some hardware recommendations.
Per the Dune: Awakening website, players will need, at minimum:
- OS: Windows 10 64-bit (or newer)
- Processor: Intel Core i5-7400, AMD Ryzen 3 1200
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 (6GB), AMD Radeon 5600XT (6GB)
- Storage: 60 GB available space
Though that’ll get you from A to B, they recommend:
- OS: Windows 10 64-bit (or newer)
- Processor: Intel Core i7-10700K, AMD Ryzen 5 2600X
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 (8GB), AMD Radeon 6700XT (12GB)
- Storage: 75 GB available space
