Electronic Arts‘ Battlefield 6 has quickly become the U.S.’s best-selling video game of 2025, according to a new October 2025 report from market research firm Circana. The new study also names Battlefield 6, released on October 10, as the longstanding action franchise’s best-selling entry ever. The record was previously held by Battlefield 1, released back in 2016. The complete Circana study includes even more good news for fans of the tactical shooter.
On Thursday, Circana Senior Director & Video Game Industry Thought Leader Mat Piscatella shared key findings in a thread on Bluesky. “Battlefield 6, mobile content and Switch 2 hardware were among the drivers of total projected US spending on video game hardware, content and accessories reaching $4.9B in October 2025, growing 3% vs Oct 2024.”
According to the report, Battlefield 6 “produced the highest single month US physical & digital full game tracked dollar sales total in [three] years.” The last game to pull similar figures? Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (2022).

New Sales Stats
Circana’s study touches on more than Battlefield 6 sales figures. In October alone, the video game market in the U.S. generated $4.88 billion — about 3% more than this time last year. Video game and hardware sales also rose last month. Game revenue rose 1% to $4.36 billion, while console sales spiked 36% to around $351 million. Nintendo’s Switch 2 system dominated console sales, with more than 328,000 handhelds sold in October 2025.
ASUS PC portable devices, like the ROG Xbox Ally, “increased by 4.8x” compared to October 2024, with sales 30% higher year-on-year (YoY).
Mobile game spending rose about 10% while revenue from subscription-based offerings — Xbox Game Pass, Nintendo Switch Online, and the like — jumped 9% YoY. Meanwhile, gaming peripheral sales fell 7% to $176 million.
Best-Selling Games of October 2025
Piscatella shared a graphic showing the month’s most successful software. The figures shown include both physical game sales and digital publisher downloads. The data does not include add-on content.

Electronic Arts’ Battlefield 6 takes the top spot, while fellow newcomer, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, sits at No. 2. Sony Interactive Entertainment’s hit action-adventure sequel, Ghost of Yotei, takes No. 3.
Sports titles NBA 2K26, EA Sports FC 26, and Madden NFL 26 take fourth, fifth, and sixth place, respectively.
The Outer Worlds 2, Little Nightmares III, Digimon Story: Time Stranger, and Borderlands 4 round out Circana’s top performers from October 2025.
