25 Games We Want To See Get A Sequel

games we want sequels

Do you ever get that feeling after you’ve finished a game that you just wish there was more? Or do you spend years hoping and praying for a sequel that never comes?

This list compiles some of the top games we desperately want to get a sequel. Please give us more of our favorite games!

Bioshock

BioShock is a revolutionary game and one of the best PlayStation 3 games ever made

While the original BioShock saw several sequels, the most recent entry in the franchise, Infinite, took us to a new world. For the sake of our list, we’re talking about a return to the underwater world of Rapture.

While you could technically debate that there is some form of spiritual successor coming out with the release of Judas, it isn’t quite the same. Returning to Rapture with new and improved graphics would be awesome.

The closest we got was the Burial At Sea DLC for Bioshock Infinite, which took us back on a nostalgia trip to Rapture. However, a full-blown sequel would be even better than that.

Diddy Kong Racing

Diddy Kong Racing was a fantastic and silly but cute kart racing game. While there are quite a few kart racing games now, Diddy Kong Racing is one of the few that sheds light on Diddy Kong.

For a long time, sequels were planned but were continuously scrapped. It would be great to have another kart racing game to spruce up the category, mainly so we can hear Diddy Kong laugh again.

The Simpsons Hit & Run

The Simpsons Hit & Run was one of the best games to be released for the PlayStation 2. It didn’t matter whether you liked The Simpsons; the game was fun for everybody. Whether you liked destroying things, exploring the world on foot, or racing around in your car, there was something for everyone to do.

This title is also one of the wackiest games I’ve ever seen. While this game was seen as somewhat of a sequel to The Simpsons: Road Rage, I’d like to see a sequel to this chaotic gem.

Spore

Spore feels like a magical fever dream, and you’re unsure when you will wake up. It has some of the wackiest creations imaginable, which makes it so amazing. Making your creature evolve from a cell into a full-grown evolved amalgamation is the best part of the game.

Seeing this wacky game get a sequel would be a dream come true, especially with updated but cartoonish graphics. Let us get back to making eldritch horrors!

Dino Crisis

Whether it’s a remaster or a full-blown sequel, Dino Crisis deserves more love. It had some of the best puzzle-solving and intense exploration I’ve ever seen, particularly since you have to try and make your way through labs while avoiding the huge jaws of dinosaurs behind you.

Seeing Dino Crisis get a sequel would be a game-changer, for sure. It’d bring the franchise back into the limelight, and seeing horrifying dinos with HD graphics would make the game scarier than it already was!

Silent Hill

Silent Hill 2 is an atmosphere masterpiece for the horror genre

While we are getting a remake of the Silent Hill 2, it would also be good to see the franchise get a new iteration completely. Technically, we did get one with Silent Hill: The Short Message, but the game wasn’t too long.

Although, alongside the Silent Hill 2 remake, we will see a new Silent Hill iteration. We can only hope it lives up to the classics. Personally, I would love to see one set in the timeline of Silent Hill 2 or 3.

Parasite Eve

Parasite Eve was one of the best games to be released for the PlayStation and one of the best survival horror games. It was one of the more unique ones, as it combined elements from Resident Evil and Silent Hill.

While the game is mildly accessible today if you have a PlayStation, the better thing would be to revive the series and release a new game altogether. However, it isn’t looking very good that that will ever happen.

Croc 2

Croc: Legend of the Gobbos and Croc 2 are some of the most adorable platforming games I’ve ever seen. Nothing quite beat the sound of hearing Croc do a little stomp and yell out, “Kersplat!”

These games are notoriously difficult to get hold of and will cost you a pretty penny if you try to get them on today’s market. This sweet little platformer deserves a revival, and I’d love to see this game get a sequel.

Alien Isolation

Alien Isolation was one of the best survival horror games to come out and one of the best games to come out set in the Alien universe. Sneaking around hiding from Androids and Xenomorphs made it that much scarier. You think you’re only dealing with one threat, but many more are on the ship!

While the ending suggested that there couldn’t be another game, it’s always possible that a miracle could happen, right? I want to experience more of this horrifying universe.

MediEvil 2

The MediEvil games were fantastic, albeit a bit terrifying to experience as a child. That being said, the voice acting that accompanied this game made it that much better. While the game was a little scary at points, it also felt rather comedic.

Despite MediEvil being remade in 2019, it didn’t quite land as well as the originals. Instead, I would prefer to see a sequel to carry on Sir Daniel Fortescue’s legacy.

Dishonored 2

Dishonored were some of the best stealth action games out there. The story was dark and twisty, and overall, the game felt somewhat similar to Bioshock. The latest game in the franchise was released in 2017.

With the unluckiness of Arkane Studios as of late and the industry as a whole, it’s uncertain whether we will see another Dishonored game in the works. We can only hope.

Half-Life 2

Half-Life

Publisher: Valve

Technically, we did get a sequel with Half-Life: Alyx. However, it’s one of the most inaccessible sequels, as you need a VR headset to play it. If you’re a gamer who doesn’t have the luxury of having a beefy setup or a lot of space, you’re immediately out of luck.

Instead of having Half-Life: Alyx, we would like to see a Half-Life 3. Please provide a complete, in-depth game that isn’t limited to VR.

Prey

Prey was a phenomenal game made by Arkane Studios. It had one of the most unique premises for a game when it came to sci-fi meets survival horror. Additionally, it felt very much like BioShock in terms of the aesthetics of the spaceship.

While the DLC added something special, it would be fantastic to have another game that was perhaps a bit more dystopian than this one. What happened after the end of Prey? Or maybe even a prequel before everything went wrong.

Cuphead

Cuphead is a fantastic game and one of the most unique run-and-gun platformers out there. Not only are all of the boss fights fantastic and unique in their own ways, but the soundtrack accompanying each is flawless.

I would love to see Cuphead and Mugman go on a journey again together and see what trouble they get themselves into! Of course, a game like this takes a long time to produce. I’d just be happy to know if they were working on one.

Sleeping Dogs

Sleeping Dogs is such a fantastic game that was released by Square Enix. It combines martial arts, parkour, and shootouts. If you like action-adventure games, you’d probably enjoy Sleeping Dogs.

Unfortunately, a remake and a sequel were planned but subsequently canceled since they were in the works. We can only hope that Square Enix decides to pick this title back up and revamp it a little.

Alice: Madness Returns

Fairytale meets horror made for a fantastic experience, and this game has become somewhat of a cult classic. While this game is a sequel in itself, the possibilities could be endless with a sequel.

It could reach new levels of horrifying, especially with modern engines and updated graphics. Unfortunately, American McGee has tried multiple times to create sequels and has failed due to EA’s disinterest. So much so that he is no longer interested in continuing with the franchise. It’s unlikely we will ever see a sequel for this game.

Bloodborne

Whether it’s a remaster or a sequel to Bloodborne, we deserve something. While the original game came out in 2015, we have been eagerly awaiting any sign of the game coming to other platforms or to see it be remastered.

However, with each passing year, it seems more and more unlikely. So, I would happily settle for a sequel to Bloodborne to experience more of that grotesque and gothic world.

L.A Noire

With updated graphics and improved AI, L.A. Noire has the grounds to be a great detective game. Even when it was first released, the game was a ton of fun. It felt very different from the usual Rockstar game but still had some of the fun traits of a Rockstar game.

However, the one thing that made the game harder was realizing that the facial expressions didn’t always match whether they were telling the truth or not. It would make it much easier to figure out in a sequel, as the graphics would be updated a little, at the very least.

Okami

Okami is an artistically stunning game that combines folklore with Japanese mythology to describe how the Shinto sun goddess Amaterasu saved the land. Surprisingly, the game didn’t sell well on release despite receiving great reviews.

While the game received a spiritual successor in 2010, it’d be great to see more of this beautiful cel-shaded art style to see what else Amaterasu was responsible for in folklore and mythology.

Lies of P

Lies of P Hotel Krat

While this game only came out very recently, it was one of the best Soulslikes that has been released in recent years. The art style was immaculate, and the gameplay was challenging but rewarding.

Neowiz has confirmed that DLC will be coming for Lies of P and a sequel in the future. Now, it’s just a matter of waiting and hoping that the sequel goes through.

Layers of Fear 2

Layers of Fear compiled Layers of Fear and Layers of Fear 2 into one package, remastering them and making them more HD than they already were. However, seeing another game enter the Layers of Fear franchise would be nice.

When it comes to walking simulator horror, the Bloober Team knows what they’re doing. The first and the second games were equally horrifying and uncomfortable in their own ways, and it’d be fascinating to see what they could get up to in a third game.

Bear & Breakfast

Bear & Breakfast was released in 2022, and it’s quite possibly one of the cutest management simulation games I have ever played. It’s cute and relaxing and has some of the most lovable characters in gaming. Hank is just a cute, clumsy bear who owns a B&B!

It’d be great to see where Hank could take his business and if it could expand past B&Bs into something bigger. There are always more adventures on the horizon, I think.

Unpacking

Unpacking was a dream come true in a game. Although most people don’t like organizing and cleaning in real life, Unpacking was so beautifully relaxing. Even though the story was told with practically no words, it’s one that many can relate to.

By the end of the game, I felt like I had a void where Unpacking once was. I’d love to see another iteration of this game or something similar to Unpacking.

The Legend of Dragoon

One of the best RPGs to come out of the late 90s and early 2000s, we were given The Legend of Dragoon. This game was perfect for those who were fans of Final Fantasy. Upon release, it received a mixed reception, as many felt it couldn’t live up to Final Fantasy.

However, it was its own unique style of game, which had intense quick-time events. The world of Endiness was vast and gave players so much to do. Exploration was endless. With new graphics and improved game engines, I’d love to see The Legend of Dragoon get a sequel.

Beyond Good & Evil

Beyond Good & Evil is a game that everyone should play at least once. While the graphics may deter you from doing so, the story and the gameplay more than makeup for that.

While a sequel to this game has been confirmed, it has been in development for many years since its first mention in 2008. It was then re-announced in 2017, though we’re still in limbo about whether or not the game will see the light of day. We hope it’s still in production and worth the wait.
