Rockstar Games’ upcoming action-adventure blockbuster Grand Theft Auto VI has been in the works for over a decade, and restless franchise fans have spent most of that time champing at the bit for even a sliver of information. The rumored GTA IV port is all well and good, but let’s get down to brass tacks.

While we’re still nearly a year out from the surefire smash’s arrival — the game is expected to drop on May 26, 2026 — some early estimates anticipate revolutionary sales figures.

According to preliminary reports from investment firm Konvoy Ventures, first cited by gaming news outlet GameSpotGrand Theft Auto VI will likely generate a whopping $7.6 billion in revenue in the two months following its release.

The firm’s managing partner, Josh Chapman, divulged the team’s predictions via career-centered social media platform LinkedIn. In his post, Chapman says Rockstar Games’ highly anticipated franchise entry will be “the largest gaming release of all time, shattering records of copies sold and revenue generated within almost every period of time.”

Chapman’s post contains additional speculation, including an $80 price tag for the game’s Standard Edition, lobbies with a 200-user capacity, and the potential inclusion of mechanics that enable players to use an in-game five-finger discount to swipe one another’s items and weapons.

The Konvoy partner also says Grand Theft Auto VI is the “next UGC platform,” potentially offering “a UGC component that includes creator payouts for server hosts, mod creators, and more (mimicking the creator economics of UEFN and Roblox).” According to GameSpot, this feature “allows mod creators to build their own areas of the game which will allow them to potentially be paid for their efforts through a creator economy.”

All in all, gamers should take any assumptive analyses with a grain of salt (several, really). Few media franchises are susceptible to speculation to the degree GTA has historically been.

Experts aren’t inferring whether or not Grand Theft Auto VI will or won’t be a hit, but how extensive the game’s cultural and economic impact will be. Additionally, neither Rockstar Games nor its parent company, Take-Two Interactive, has confirmed the game’s retail value or budget; Konvoy’s hypotheses rely on rumored figures.

We’ll just have to find out when we join Jason and Lucia in Grand Theft Auto VI when it arrives on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on May 26, 2026 — barring any other delays, of course.
