Retailer Lists ‘Grand Theft Auto VI’ Preorders for $100

As if the wait for the sixth installment weren’t enough, Grand Theft Auto fans are up in arms after one store listed preorders for the highly-anticipated title.

Swiss retailer Brack posted Grand Theft Auto VI preorders for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S to its website, but gamers met the addition with gasps and grimaces. Though experts and analysts have speculated about its price point, Brack’s preorders were listed at 99 Swiss Francs — around $112 — eclipsing previously posited price points.

Modern gamers expect to fork over at least $60 for blockbuster AAA titles, but a release selling for more than $100 is enough to shock even the most seasoned players. However, the price has yet to be confirmed by GTA VI publisher Rockstar. Although Brack’s website doesn’t specify, there’s less reason for alarm provided the price pertains to Special Edition releases.

Gamers have been champing at the bit for updates regarding the franchise’s latest entry since GTA V hit shelves nearly 12 years ago. As such, Grand Theft Auto fans are well acquainted with the rumor mill.  Earlier today, content creators behind the franchise-focused GTA VI O’Clock account on X (formerly Twitter) piqued gamers’ interest by suggesting Rockstar would drop GTA VI‘s long-awaited second trailer next month. Rockstar has yet to substantiate the claim. Other speculations run the gamut from infuriating file size rumors (200GB!?) to frequent and unfounded release date claims.

My advice to fellow (frustrated) gamers? Be optimistic yet realistic. “A watched game never boils,” or however that saying goes.
