‘Jurassic World Evolution 3’ studio pulls gen-AI game content

U.K.-based video game studio Frontier Developments is ditching generative artificial intelligence (AI) in its upcoming sci-fi simulator Jurassic World Evolution 3 following fan pushback.

Team members behind the management sim, initially introduced during Geoff Keighley-led Summer Game Fest on June 6, confirmed the title would contain AI-generated scientist portraits. Following negative feedback, however, the game’s Steam listing no longer shows the same worrisome AI disclosure site users had previously reported.

Steam users took to the game’s discussion board to lament the inclusion of gen AI. After fans continued leaving comments expressing they’d removed the title from their wishlists, devs jumped in. “Thanks for your feedback on this topic,” the game’s official account responded. “We have opted to remove the use of generative AI for scientist portraits within Jurassic World Evolution 3.”

Frontier Developments confirmed the removal of AI in an exclusive statement given to industry news outlet Game Watcher. “We have removed the use of generative AI for scientists portraits in Jurassic World Evolution 3 following some initial feedback. The team are continuing their diligent work on the game and are very much looking forward to launching on 21 October.”

Frontier isn’t the only team that’s gotten an earful after recent AI implementation. In May, SAG-AFTRA publicly opposed Epic Games’ inclusion of AI-generated audio in Fortnite. SAG-AFTRA said Epic subsidiary Llama Productions didn’t communicate with the union before including AI dialogue that mimicked original Darth Vader actor  James Earl Jones’ iconic baritone.

Jurassic World fans aren’t the only players irritated, either. Gamers are growing increasingly annoyed by spammy, AI-generated content flooding digital distribution services, including Sony’s PlayStation store. Though PlayStation reportedly removed myriad questionable downloads from its digital offerings in the past, users claim “shovelware”-saturated storefronts remain an issue for both Sony subscribers and other tech brands’ dedicated fans.

An AI-free Jurassic World Evolution 3 is expected to release on October 21, 2025.
