No whammies, no whammies… Indie slots roguelite CloverPit has officially sold 1 million copies in the six weeks since its late September launch. The developer duo behind the hit, Panik Arcade, announced the news in a post on X (formerly Twitter). “big CloverPit news,” the post starts, “we’ve officially sold +1 million copies!!” The celebratory post continues, with the developers surprising players with an all-new Hard Mode Update.
The studio also shared the sales metric in a post on Steam:
“Hi everyone,
“We just want to say it again, THANK YOU so much for all your incredible support! We still can’t believe how the launch went… like… WE’VE OFFICIALLY SOLD 1 MILLION COPIES!!! What?! 🤯 We are truly in shock and deeply grateful to all of you who have supported us on this wild ride!
“Of course, we haven’t just been celebrating! We’ve also been hard at work cooking up a big new update.
“The Hard Mode Update (v1.2) is now live, and you can play it right now! It adds our most requested feature yet: even harder challenges.”
2025 has been good to indie hits like CloverPit. The slots game moved 100,000 units in its first 24 hours and sold half a million units in eight days.
Panik Arcade, the studio behind CloverPit, calls the indie slots hit “the demonic lovechild of Balatro and Buckshot Roulette.” In the game, would-be lever-pullers are locked in a seedy cell with nothing but a slot machine and an ATM. Using the (very) limited tools at their disposal, players push their luck to the limits. In this high-risk, high-reward slots sim, gamers can rig the machine, run those numbers up, and (hopefully) make a run for it.
“Manipulate the slot machine to earn extra coins. Turn the odds in your favor with various prizes and charms that trigger big big combos, snowballing into a dazzling lucky run. Bend the rules, break the game, and pay off your captor long enough to earn a shot at freedom.”
While CloverPit features a sinister slot machine, the developers advise players hoping for a traditional slots experience to look elsewhere. “CloverPit is a rogue-lite horror game, and not a slot machine simulator. Our slot machine is designed to be broken and ultimately overcome, and will never ask you for real money!”
CloverPit‘s New Update
Panik Arcade developers Matteo and Lorenzo shared a patch note post on Steam, highlighting key gameplay tweaks. However, the studio has obscured details regarding Hard Mode to ensure players’ next round is a total surprise. In addition to the new difficulty, the post touts “rebalancing” and “new and improved UI” changes:
“Rebalancing:
“Since launch, we’ve received a ton of thoughtful feedback about game balance. We’ve reworked loads of charms, values, and other little details to make everything smoother and fairer. Thank you all for helping us fine-tune the game!
“New and improved UI:
“The game now does a better job at communicating goals and endgame challenges. We’ve also made a bunch of small bug fixes and UX tweaks to make things clearer and more enjoyable overall.”
At the time of writing, the Future Friends-published CloverPit has a “Very Positive” aggregated Steam score, comprised of nearly 7,000 English reviews.
