On Thursday, Japanese video game publisher Konami hosted its inaugural Press Start games showcase, giving fans a more intimate look at just what the publisher has up its sleeve. The team’s closing announcement, however, was the show-stealer.
Konami ended its presentation with confirmation that a Silent Hill remake is, indeed, in development, with developer Bloober Entertainment at the helm once more.
The presenters are letting restless fans sit with this one for a while; the team announced no other information outside of revealing the project’s existence. But, if there’s anything fans of the Silent Hill franchise are known for, it’s their patience. Until 2023’s interactive small-screen release, Silent Hill: Ascension, the horror IP went nearly a full decade without any remakes, re-releases, adaptations, or otherwise new content.
Fans of manmade horrors beyond my comprehension, rejoice! Silent Hill f is on the horizon, giving hungry franchise fans a chance to tide themselves over ’til the next big drop. The NeoBards-developed project will release a month shy of Halloween, too, to really set the scene. Y’know, in case the recently teased ultra-grotesque gameplay wasn’t enough to get you there. Silent Hill f is the series’ eighth mainline entry. It is also the first mainline entry since Downpour dropped in 2012.
