Well, it looks like Hydra isn’t rising quite yet.
Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, the upcoming story-rich adventure game from American studio Skydance Games, has been officially postponed until next year. The game was previously expected sometime this year.
In a new X post, Skydance Games confirmed the delay and expanded on some details:
“We have an important update: Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra will now be launching in early 2026.
Taking this additional time will allow us to add more polish, and make sure we give you the best possible experience, and one that lives up to our vision.
We have some exciting things in store and look forward to sharing more soon!”
Skydance’s postponement joins other studios’ recent release date changes; While Rockstar Games deferred its Grand Theft Auto VI launch to May 26, 2026, from its expected Fall 2025 drop, Gearbox’s Borderlands 4 will release on September 12, 2025, about two weeks earlier than its expected September 23 arrival.
Skydance’s Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, set during World War II, follows Marvel supersoldier Captain America (Steve Rogers), Wakandan royal Black Panther (Azzuri), and other familiar faces as they work to dismantle Axis forces in Hydra-occupied Paris. Developers drew inspiration from the 2010 Marvel release, “Captain America/Black Panther: Flags of Our Fathers,” though the game will put an all-new spin on it.
While another delayed release is a big ol’ bummer, gamers can expect 2026 to be absolutely stacked with back-to-back blockbuster releases. It might be wise to go ahead and put in that time-off request now.
