Just weeks after prominent leakers teased word of another special showcase on social media, multinational media brand Nintendo has confirmed another Nintendo Direct presentation is on the horizon.
The showcase, slated for Friday, Sept. 12, 2025, comes less than one month after the brand’s Kirby Air Riders Nintendo Direct.

Nintendo once again used its Nintendo Today! app to break the news, a method its increasingly utilized for notable announcements since revealing the Zelda film adaptation’s debut date back in March. The brand’s X account also relayed the news, adding that the Direct will reveal “roughly 60 minutes of information on upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch games.”
This purported runtime makes Nintendo’s upcoming presentation one of its longest ever. Nintendo’s Direct archive shows the last hourlong showcase was the Switch 2 reveal back in April, but even that was the brand’s first to surpass a 45-minute runtime since a 50-minute Direct aired on Feb. 17, 2021.

Brand fans have anticipated this showcase since one well-known brand insider spilled the beans last month. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Nintendo insider-leaker SwitchForce playfully claimed that “Nintendo tried to phone in an emergency about the missing Switch 2 games, but they accidentally dialed 912,” before closing with a *shrug* emoji. The “912,” as many suspected, was a sly reference to the showcase’s now-confirmed air date.
Fans have tuned into four distinct Direct presentations since the Nintendo Switch 2 arrived on June 5, 2025 — Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, the brand’s Partner Showcase, and Kirby Air Riders — but impatient Metroid fans are growing restless. Many are rooting for any Samus-centered coverage, but with Super Mario Bros. turning 40 on Saturday, they might want to hold their breath, as the 35th anniversary Direct was wholly Mario-focused.
Tune into the Nintendo of America YouTube account on Friday, Sept. 12, 2025, at 6 a.m. PT/9 a.m. ET to see what Nintendo has up its sleeve.
