On Thursday, Nintendo gave fans their first third-party Direct presentation since the June 5 launch of its highly anticipated Switch 2 handheld. Unlike the two Nintendo Direct presentations we’ve gotten since the system’s launch — Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza — this one focused solely on third-party hits from publishing partners rather than Nintendo-led projects.

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection

An all-new entry in the Monster Hunter Stories franchise is headed to the Nintendo Switch 2. Today’s presentation kicked off with a short-but-sweet teaser of Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, which Nintendo said is due sometime in 2026. The clip closed with a shot of a massive, nearly hatched egg that appeared to house a monster or two.

“Twin Rathalos born in a twist of fate. Their appearance sets the stage for a new tale of Riders and Rathalos to unfold. Become a Rider, bond with monsters, and explore the vibrant world of Monster Hunter in this next evolution of the Monster Hunter Stories series.”

Once Upon a Katamari

The rumors are true! Roll your way through time to recreate the stars and restore the universe to its rightful state. Roll with friends online, customize and personalize the appearance of the Prince and Cousin, and relish classic franchise tunes as well as new ones.

Just Dance 2026 Edition

The next hit in the popular Ubisoft dance series is on deck. In addition to a ton of new tracks from various stars like Dua Lipa, Madonna, and Smash Mouth, Just Dance 2026 Edition also features a “Party Mode” that allows dancers to pair up and compete for the best score. (Wait, is anyone else surprised the series didn’t already have that?)

In EA SPORTS FC 26, Club leaders can play their way with a gameplay experience the trailer claims is the product of continued community feedback. “Enjoy Manager Live Challenges that bring fresh storylines to the new season, and Archetypes inspired by the greats of the game.”

EA SPORTS FC 26 Ultimate Edition is available for the Nintendo Switch 2 in Early Access on September 19, 2025. The Standard Edition is available for the system on September 26, 2025.

Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment

“Experience The Imprisoning War that ultimately led to the events of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, the latest canonical tale from Hyrule’s distant past.”

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment has no firm release date, though the presentation said fans can expect it sometime this winter.

EA SPORTS Madden NFL 26

According to the game’s listing on Nintendo’s website, EA SPORTS Madden NFL 26 “leverages a new AI-powered machine learning system to convert thousands of plays from nearly a decade of real NFL data into more explosive gameplay—with new player-specific traits, authentic play-styles, and adaptive counters that match on-field tendencies and strategies of NFL quarterbacks and coaches. From the Skol chant in Minnesota to the light show in Baltimore, immerse yourself in new presentation across the NFL including game-impacting weather, team traditions, and more.”

Chillin’ By the Fire

In this upcoming action-adventure RPG from the creators of Octopath Traveler and Bravely Default, follow protagonist Elliot and his fae companion as they depart their Kingdom to uncover truths regarding some strange ruins.

Square Enix is also issuing post-demo surveys to players, encouraging them to send feedback regarding their player experience. You love to see it!
