Horror game ‘No, I’m not a Human’ now on Steam

 | Outrun Gaming

Hey, did you hear that? I think someone’s at the door…

On Monday, indie games publisher Critical Reflex — the folks behind other horror hits like Mouthwashing and Buckshot Roulette —released its viral anxiety-horror game No, I’m not a Human. In the nerve-wracking horror title, developed by Trioskaz, players must remain inside their house during the End Times. As you hunker and hide, however, unfamiliar guests rap at the door. Peer through the peephole to get a better look at your surprise guest. Now, you must determine whether the person pleading on the other side of the door is trustworthy — or a person at all.

In a new press release, publisher Critical Reflex warns would-be bouncers of who (or what) they might find on their front doorstep. “WARNING. Stay inside. Lock your doors. Close the blinds. The world is ending. Dozens of unique and troubled guests will cross your door. Only let humans in. Eliminate all Visitors.” Despite the sinister warning, they do offer some advice:

  • Don’t Panic: Sunrise. Twilight of Earth. The world is ending. The only refuge is in the night. But the night belongs to the Visitors.
  • Let the Rights Ones In: A knock on the door. A solitary voice, begging for refuge. They look like us. Talk like us. Smell like us. Are they us? Look for the signs.
  • Meet Your Guests: Isolation will not save you. The Visitors will overwhelm us. Let some in. Hear their stories. Some will help, some will need help. Some are Visitors.
  • Do What Must Be Done: The Visitors kill. Kill them first. Interrogate the guests. Smoke and drink kombucha. Do what must be done.
  • How Will It End: Ten different endings are yours to find. Discover hidden rooms, surprise resolutions to your guests’ stories, and many more secrets. The choices are yours.

No, I’m not a Human is available on Steam for $14.99, but until September 29, gamers can nab a 10% discount as part of a post-launch deal. The game has already picked up more than 1,200 Steam reviews, with players reporting a “Very Positive” gameplay experience overall. According to the press release, versions of No, I’m not a Human for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S are currently in development.

Trioskaz, the Russia-based indie developer behind the new game, describes itself as a “development team that was born out of the idea of creating games that reflect people’s everyday fears, anxieties and inner feelings.” If you’ve got the guts, check out the anxiety-inducing trailer on YouTube.
