PlayStation Gear merchandise store closing, sales live now

Bad news for collectors: Sony Interactive Entertainment is closing its PlayStation Gear store at the end of 2025. The gaming brand’s digital fan store, launched in 2015, has offered players themed apparel, officially licensed collectibles, artwork prints, and more. However, fans now see an unmissable red prompt when they enter the site.

“Thanks for visiting PlayStation™Gear Store. This site will be closing December 31st. Our Customer Service team will still be here and happy to help regarding your order,” the message reads before declaring that all sales are final. At the time of writing, the store still shows discounted stock inspired by several PlayStation IPs, including The Last of Us and Astro Bot, among others. Choose wisely, as the brand will not issue returns or refunds.

The PlayStation Gear store expanded into new territories in recent years; in early 2021, the brand extended merchandise availability to fans in Germany, Austria, France, Ireland, and other regions.

Impacted publishers are sharing the news with their social media followers. Naughty Dog, the studio behind the gritty post-apocalyptic The Last of Us franchise, posted a screenshot of the site to X (formerly Twitter). “The PlayStation Gear Store will close permanently on December 31st, 2025 across all territories,” the post reads. The attached image shows some The Last of Us-branded items still up for grabs on the PlayStation Gear storefront (while supplies last, of course).

Additionally, popular video game deal aggregator @Wario64 shared news of the store’s closure with their 1.2 million followers on X. “PlayStation Gear Store (their merch store) is closing Dec 31st. All sales are final. They have a sale going on in the meantime,” they noted.

Sony Interactive Entertainment has yet to address potential plans for its merch store. Whether rebranding, revamping, or nixing the store altogether, the PlayStation Gear shop will be sorely missed. If you’re in the market for some merch, hop over to the home page and peruse your preferred categories while the gettin’ is still good — with these deep discounts, all items will likely sell fast. This is a developing story, so stay tuned to Outrun Gaming and PlayStation’s social media accounts for more updates as they become available.
