Global media sensation Pokemon is celebrating its 29th birthday with its Pokemon Presents event. The brand’s annual presentation, held February 27, gives fans across generations a peek at what’s to come from The Pokemon Company. This year’s announcements run the gamut, with new and updated content coming to consoles, televisions, and other mediums.
Tsunekazu Ishihara, The Pokemon Company’s President and CEO, is giving gamers a glimpse of upcoming content, including console releases, mobile games, and updates to its trading card game. Here’s what you might’ve missed.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A
News regarding the long-awaited Pokemon Legends: Z-A for the Nintendo Switch closed the celebration. The game, set in Kalos’ futuristic and urban Lumiose City, will include Mega Evolutions and allow players to pick from starters Totodile, Chikorita, and Tepig. Fans can anticipate the arrival of Pokemon Legends: Z-A near year’s end.
Pokemon Champions
A new title, Pokemon Champions, will platform Pokemon battles like never before. While gamers can look forward to the same gameplay mechanics they’ve come to know and love, they’ll also get to employ smart new strategies and engage in cross-platform battles. Broadened accessibility means mobile gamers and Switch players can go toe-to-toe with no problems (unless you lose, that is).
Pokemon TCG Pocket
Triumphant Light, the digital trading card game’s fourth expansion, is available to players tomorrow, February 28. Gamers can relish special missions and celebratory in-game events in just a few hours. Ranked Matches are also coming to the game in late March. Genetic Apex boosters will return, as well, with at least one rare card pull per pack.
Pokemon Masters EX
Two master sync pairs are heading to Pokemon Masters EX: May & Shiny Primal Kyogre and Brendan & Shiny Primal Groudon. The Pokemon IP isn’t the only one celebrating a milestone; Masters EX players can usher in the title’s 5.5-year anniversary by logging in and snagging 3,000 gems.
Pokemon Unite
Multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) Pokemon Unite welcomes Suicune to the fray on March 1, with Alolan Raichu sliding into the mix in early April. Alcremie will also join, though that arrival date has not been released. Gamers can tap into the new “First to 500” battle, becoming the first trainer to hit 500 points.
Pokemon Concierge
Quirky stop-motion animation Pokemon Concierge will drop its second season to streamer giant Netflix in Fall 2025. The program remains in production, but the brand released test footage alongside the inaugural season’s first four episodes on its official YouTube channel.
Pokemon Scarlet & Violet
Trainers can pick up a free case for their in-game Roton devices with celebratory codes. Scarlet gamers, input “SBOOKCOVER” in the Mystery Event menu to get your game-specific case. Violet players can similarly use “VBOOKCOVER” to secure their unique case.
Pokemon Sleep
The brand’s charming sleep-tracking software will wake everyone up when it kicks off its “Cresselia vs Darkrai” event next month. Stave off bad dreams by logging in and claiming your 10 Pokemon Biscuits and 1,000 Diamonds.
Pokemon Cafe Remix
An apple a day doesn’t keep the Pokemon away, that’s for sure! Pokemon puzzle game Cafe Remix‘s apple-themed event includes a new menu item, outfit packs, and Paldea starters. Take part in the event, and Flapple or Appletun will join your quaint cafe’s staff. Pikachu and Eevee will hop behind the counter with one and three log-ins, respectively.
Pokemon Go
Pokemon Go‘s “Road to Unova” event, which runs until March 1, features Legendaries, raids, egg-hatching distance bonuses, more appearances from select wild Pokemon, and the new Go Tour Pass, among other perks. Users can enter code “GOTOURUNOVA” to pick a Pokemon encounter from a select list.
Language Updates
Localized Latin American Spanish is coming to Pokemon games, expanding the already-sprawling IP’s reach even further.
