Tactical shooter Ready or Not has been available for PC gamers since late 2023, but the game’s more recent arrival to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S has propelled it to new heights.
According to VOID Interactive CEO Julio Rodiguez, the title surpassed 1 million copies sold in just four days of console availability.
Rodriguez shared news of the game’s success on professional social networking platform LinkedIn:
“1 Million Units on Console 🎮
When we launched Ready or Not on PC, it took about 36 days to reach 1 million units sold. On console, it took about 3.6 days.
I’m incredibly proud of the team and what we’ve accomplished together. It’s a huge moment — and one we don’t take for granted.
Game reviews are holding strong as we head into our first weekend, and the team is already hard at work ironing out issues and continuously improving the experience.
To our players, partners, and everyone who believed in the project — thank you.”
The first-person shooter, initially released for PC via Steam in December 2023, surpassed more than 9 million units sold on PC in April 2025. Its console performance thrusts lifetime sales beyond 10 million in total.
The million-mark is notable in and of itself, but Ready or Not‘s steady performance is more remarkable considering recent censorship concerns and undisclosed AI usage. Regarding the former, some of Ready or Not‘s more realistic, gruesome gameplay moments have been toned down ahead of its PlayStation and Xbox arrival. VOID Interactive, the studio behind the gritty and hyper-realistic SWAT shooter, detailed the scope of upcoming content changes via Steam ahead of its console release.
“Throughout this console port process we’ve done our utmost to only make changes when they are flagged as absolutely required by our first party partners, and any changes aim to remain faithful to the original tonality of the game,” the studio wrote. “Our age rating as it stands for console is ESRB M-rating, PEGI 18, and USK 18 to give an idea. Still, there are other game content requirements that console platforms have in order to exist on their systems, and a portion of these changes will be visible on the PC version.”
Additionally, one GamePressure report cites Ready or Not players’ Reddit posts regarding gen-AI. Worried gamers are “spotting strange-looking assets, especially on posters,” which bear “AI slop“-like elements. Among them, “a girl with way too many eyebrows.” Even more concerning is the game’s potential reliance on AI for accessibility features like subtitles. At the time of writing, VOID has not yet addressed its purported use of gen-AI assets.
