Retro games publisher Acclaim has welcomed another member to its Advisory Board. On Tuesday, the brand announced via press release that seasoned media exec Tiago Teixeira Correia has joined the Acclaim team. The resurrected games company returned in March 2025 after filing for bankruptcy more than two decades ago. A group of industry investors acquired the label and revealed its return with a nostalgic CRT TV short. News of the executive addition comes just one month after the reborn brand aired its inaugural Play Acclaim Showcase. Correia boasts nearly two decades’ worth of media, entertainment, and technology executive experience.
Correia currently serves as a Venture Partner at Griffin Gaming Partners, an advisor at tech fund FOV Ventures, a frontier tech fund, and the managing director of his own investment firm. According to the press release, Correia, a member of BAFTA, The Recording Academy, and the Royal Television Society, has worked for “Amazon and CNN, and he has delivered projects for major clients such as Apple, Google, NBCUniversal, Sky, and Spotify.”
Correia spoke about his new role in the press release: “No matter who you were, if you were playing games in the 90s, you knew of Acclaim! Today, I’m joining Acclaim to bring back that distinctive vibe of the early gaming days. It warms me up to be part of this project that I know will show the utmost respect for the fans it still holds to this day. And I’ll be right here, helping bring my experience from across the media and entertainment landscape to make sure this brand soars again.”
“Tiago is an amazing addition to the already impressive advisory board at Acclaim,” CEO Alex Josef said, adding that he brings years of experience and invaluable industry connections to the table.
‘The New Acclaim’
Acclaim’s website says that “[t]he New Acclaim is founded by a passionate team of industry veterans with a focus on empowering developers and creators to bring their games to the widest possible audience.” The mission statement continues: “We provide funding and publishing services to video game developers, including production, PR/marketing support, distribution and more.” This support includes a “Pitch” page, where the brand offers independent developers resources related to pitching their games to potential publishers.
Since its return earlier this year, Acclaim has bolstered its social media presence, launched titles on digital games platform Steam, and hosted its first livestreamed games showcase.
About Acclaim
Acclaim was first established in 1987. The arcade mainstay was among the world’s most well-known studios, bringing iconic titles like Turok and Mortal Kombat from quarter-dependent arcade cabinets straight to players’ living rooms. In past press releases, “The New Acclaim” stressed the importance of player-studio rapport and staying true to the company’s roots without relying on nostalgia and remember-whens to generate interest.
“We’re here to take the energy and chaos that made Acclaim unforgettable and channel it into something new,” Josef said in an August statement. “The old screens are cracking, and what’s coming through is something exciting and different.” He continued: “You can’t rewrite the past, but you can build upon it. This is about owning our story and moving it into a future that feels bold, energetic, and completely fresh.”
