Sega teases Wu-Tang collab for ‘SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance’

SEGA’s latest collaboration gives a whole new meaning to “protect ya neck.”

The storied gaming brand is around 10 days removed from the launch of SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance, and the studio is sweetening the pot with some slick new content.

SHINOBI fans and hip-hop fans alike can expect all-new original tracks from YDB, the son of founding Wu-Tang Clan member ODB. A new SHINOBI-inspired single, “The Path Just Begun,” will be released across music streaming platforms on August 21, 2025. The song will release alongside a video that marries YDB’s lyricism with adrenaline-pumping gameplay footage from SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance.

Wu legacy fans can go all out ahead of the SHINOBI partnership with themed threads straight from YDB’s apparel brand, Dirty Magic. Players and fans of the performer can snag graphic tees, hoodies, and more on Amazon.

That’s not all for the SHINOBI celebrations, either. Over the weekend, Speedrun began its weeklong “SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance Ninja Legacy Challenge,” where players can see how quickly they can power through the 1993 classic SHINOBI III: Return of the Ninja Master as well as the latest installment’s demo, which features an enhanced version of the game’s first stage. The challenge — as well as its $5,000 prize pool — goes away on August 24, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. UTC (that’s around 7 p.m. EST/4 p.m. PST).

SEGA also revealed a special stage within the new SHINOBI that pits players against legendary characters from the studio. The “SEGA Villains Stage” will feature challengers from beloved SEGA IPs. The first in line? Dr. Eggman from the Sonic the Hedgehog series. SHINOBI‘s Joe Musashi can go toe-to-toe with Robotnik (as well as other not-yet-revealed opponents) when the DLC drops early 2026.

SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance was created in collaboration with Streets of Rage 4 studio Lizardcube. In the new adventure, protagonist Joe Musashi returns to his home only to find his village burned to the ground and his clan turned into stone. Battle your way through hordes of enemies and big-time bosses across hand-drawn worlds.

Limber up now, because SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance releases on August 29, 2025, on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Nintendo Switch.
