Team Cherry reveals Hollow Knight: Silksong ‘Sea of Sorrow’ update

Hollow Knight studio Team Cherry is wrapping up an incredible, record-breaking year with the promise that they’re not finished yet. The independent game studio announced in a new blog post that its blockbuster Metroidvania, Hollow Knight: Silksong, has sold more than 7 million units since its September 4 release. Impressive enough in its own right, but the studio clarified that the figure does not include the “millions more playing on Xbox Game Pass.” Additionally, the studio shared plans to launch a free, nautical-themed update — “Sea of Sorrow” — which it says will arrive sometime in 2026. Team Cherry shared a link to the celebratory post on its official social media accounts.

” … [W]e wanted to say a huge thank you to all the players who’ve braved Silksong’s distant and dangerous lands,” the Team Cherry crew said. “That’s over seven million of you who’ve purchased the game, alongside millions more playing on Xbox Game Pass!” The crew cites dedicated fans’ “continued enthusiasm” as a motivator behind game expansion. The endearing message to players revealed more goodies, too:
