Fans have just over two weeks until Nintendo’s long-awaited Switch 2 console releases worldwide, and Sega is fueling fan fervor with some fun new updates.

During the intensely-hyped Switch 2-centered Nintendo Direct presentation on April 2, Sega announced Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut would be available on the console beginning on its June 5 release day.

While the news is exciting enough to stand on its own — Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut is only the second series entry available on Nintendo consoles — Sega assures the franchise’s dedicated fans that some special content is coming exclusively to the Switch 2 (at least for now).

The revamped 2015 Yakuza entry, which celebrated its tenth birthday this past March, is bringing an all-new “Red Light Raid” to the Director’s Cut. This unique mode pits players against swarming henchmen in a no-holds-barred street fight, allowing fans of the game’s cutthroat combat to engage without having to dive into the franchise’s sometimes-dense narrative.

The special mode also lets would-be brawlers invite three allies to the fray. Folks playing alone can summon a trio of CPU-controlled teammates to help take down some hostile NPCs. Sega confirmed that the new console’s GameChat feature is compatible with “Red Light Raid,” an interactive and immersive addition sure to lead to group laughs.

Dreaming of an intense co-op experience? Make sure you have your three-person shortlist at the ready, because “Red Light Raid” players can also call on three human friends for assistance. Friends can tag in as one of many playable characters, including franchise faves like Goro Majima.

“Red Light Raid” acts as a kind of arcade-inspired gauntlet, with gameplay intensity increasing as players fight on. Once you’re down, you’re out, so make sure to brush up on your skills before jumping in head-first (or fist-first, really).

If you’ve never joined Kazuma Kiryu or Daigo Dojima, it’s not too late. Technically a prequel, Yakuza 0 is the optimal jumping-off point for fighters new to the franchise.

If it’s been a while since you joined Kiryu in a return to economically turbulent 1980s Japan, remember that Yakuza 0‘s real-time battles differ from the turn-based combat seen in the Ichiban Kasuga-led Like a Dragon games.
