As Yakuza/Like a Dragon franchise fans prepare to return to Kamurocho in the upcoming Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties, publisher SEGA and developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio (RGG) say they will discontinue standalone digital sales ofYakuza 3 Remastered. According to one of RGG’s latest posts on the social media platform X, the 2019 remaster of Yakuza 3 will become exclusive to the Yakuza Complete Series franchise bundle. The studio shared details in its related X post:
The release of “Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties” is now less than one month away. Everyone at the studio has poured their hearts into creating this title, and we are truly looking forward to the day everybody can finally play it.
We would also like to express our deep gratitude for the warm support and respectful feedback we receive from communities around the world. While we may not be able to reply to every comment individually, please know that we hear all of your voices.
We place great importance on staying faithful to our creative direction, and we hope you will enjoy the completely new experiences we have envisioned for “Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties.”
Those who already own “Yakuza 3 Remastered” will still be able to continue playing it. For those new to the series who wish to experience the original version, it will be available with purchase of the “Yakuza Complete Series” bundle.
We hope you look forward to our upcoming releases as well. Thank you again for your support and feedback.
RGG’s post, published less than 24 hours ago, has been viewed more than 820,000 times. In the hours since upload, X users have utilized the platform’s “Community Notes” feature to add valuable context. “The Yakuza Complete Collection on Steam is a package, not a bundle, and all packages require full cost, regardless of whether you own games or not,” the user-generated context reads. “Purchasing Yakuza 3 Remastered will require a full purchase of the Yakuza Complete Collection at cost.”
Players with an existing copy of Yakuza 3 Remastered will not be affected. However, those still hoping to get their hands on the 2019 remaster should act fast.
