007 First Light, Amazon MGM and HITMAN studio IO Interactive’s brand-new spy RPG, has sold more than 1.5 million units in just 24 hours. The game’s team shared the sales milestone in a celebratory Steam post. “1.5 million copies sold,” the update starts. “Thank you for showing up to the launch of 007 First Light, for your overwhelming enthusiasm and for sharing your experience with the game.”
Steam data aggregator SteamDB reports that 007 First Light hit a player peak of 68,477 on Wednesday, May 27, and interest isn’t waning. At the time of writing, more than 61,000 would-be spies are working closely with pro handler Moneypenny, pushing 007 First Light to the no. 22 spot on Steam’s daily active users (DAUs) list. The Bond RPG is no. 3 on the platform’s top-sellers list as well as its fourth-most wishlisted title.

‘007 First Light’ developers announce first update
007 First Light also received its first update on Thursday, with IOI developers addressing bug fixes in a comprehensive post on the studio’s website. “As we continue to make further improvements,” the game’s developers explain, “please follow our social media channels to stay up to date on all things 007 First Light.” Fixes include:
- Bond & Moneypenny Elevator Scene Crash. Fixed a crash which occurred during a cutscene featuring Bond & Moneypenny after the Opening Credits (Title Sequence), at the beginning of “In His Majesty’s Secret Service”;
- Guards Skip Confrontational Dialogue. Fixed an issue in Chapter 06 “Uninvited”, where guards would immediately become hostile and skip confrontational dialogue after Bond leaves the CCTV room;
- M’s Office Cutscene Crash. Fixed a crash which occurred after leaving M’s office in Chapter 02 “A Night Out”;
- Greenway (and other NPCs) Pathing Issues. Fixed an issue where Bond standing in Greenway’s or other NPC’s way would lead to pathing issues making them disappear or go through walls;
- Returning to London Crash. Fixed a crash which occurred during a cutscene after the completion of Chapter 05 “Beyond the Grave”;
- EGS Deluxe Edition Items. Fixed an issue where the Deluxe Edition Items were not granted correctly on Epic Games Store.
IO Interactive’s developers urge players to refer to their official list of known issues, which they say includes “workarounds that may help if you are having trouble.” Run into an issue that’s not yet been noted? About ‘007 First Light’
Based on Ian Fleming’s beloved spy franchise, 007 First Light tells the origin story of a 26-year-old, hard-headed Bond as he navigates life as a new recruit of MI6’s newly revived Double-0 program. HITMAN fans will notice some familiar mechanics alongside brand-new sleuthing skills, weaponry, wearables, and more.
As a devout HITMAN fan, I feel inclined to include my favorite in-game Easter egg thus far (IYKYK):
Download the Standard Edition of IO Interactive’s 007 First Light now for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC via Steam and Epic Games Store for $69.99, or download the game’s Deluxe Edition for $79.99. Meanwhile, three physical-only editions — Specialist, Collector’s, and Legacy — are available on Amazon for $69.99, $199.99, and $299.99, respectively.
