Kylian Mbappé makes his franchise return to EA SPORTS FC™ as cover star for EA SPORTS FC™ 27
Electronic Arts (EA) has revealed its next sports game franchise cover star: France and Real Madrid footballer Kylian Mbappé. The 2026 World Cup Golden Boot winner will appear on the Ultimate Edition cover of the label’s next football franchise entry, EA SPORTS FC 27. The soccer stunner just made history in the 2026 World Cup, earning the distinction of all-time World Cup top scorer.
Much like his new Golden Boot award, Mbappé’s latest cover art appearance isn’t his first; the athlete appeared on the cover of EA’s FIFA franchise three consecutive years: FIFA 21, FIFA 22, and FIFA 23. This is his first appearance on the cover since EA lost its FIFA license and rebranded to EA SPORTS FC.
In addition to his appearance on the cover of EA SPORTS FC 27, Mbappé will also appear as the mobile game’s cover star.
“To be featured on the cover of an EA SPORTS FC title for the first time is a very special moment for me,” Kylian Mbappé shared in a news release. “It’s an honour to continue my long-term relationship with the franchise in its latest chapter, alongside the players who have shaped its history. I can’t wait for everyone to experience FC 27.”

Kylian Mbappé’s cover announcement kicks off a week of EA SPORTS FC 27-related reveals from EA. The brand will release a new gameplay trailer on YouTube on Thursday, July 23, at 9 a.m. PT/12 p.m. ET.
