For monthly PlayStation Plus subscribers, each new month brings more than a blank calendar. October also brings three new free games for PS Plus subscribers, announced on Wednesday in a new PlayStation blog post.
“Race for podium glory in F1 25, take on monsters and other players in Hunt: Showdown 1896, then battle voxel versions of EDF enemies in Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2,” said Adam Michel, Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Senior Director of Content Acquisition & Operations.
“Together, these three games form the PlayStation Plus Monthly Games for October. All be [sic] available to PlayStation Plus members from Tuesday October 6 until Monday November 2.”
Time’s almost up to claim September’s PlayStation Plus free games, so be sure to download ’em all — Sniper Elite: Resistance, MLB The Show 26, Wobbly Life and Chained Echoes — before they disappear on Monday, October 5.
New games and goodies coming to PlayStation Plus next month
Check out the games heading to PlayStation Plus, all playable beginning Tuesday, October 6:
F1 25. Check out F1 25, the official video game of the 2025 FIA Formula One World Championship. This high-octane racing game features a riveting single-player Career campaign as well My Team 2.0, which lets players own and create their own Formula 1 team. Speed demons can up the ante in online races, including a brand-new multiplayer mode in F1 World.
Hunt: Showdown 1896. This brutally competitive extraction shooter, set during the turn of the 20th century, pits players against pure evil in a backward, backwater world. As a bounty hunter with nothing to lose, you must take down monsters and other threats standing between you and that sweet, sweet bounty.
“Race competing Hunters to track down bosses, send them to hell, claim their bounty, and fight your way to extract. If others only slow you down, go alone. If you find strength in numbers, take up to two teammates along.”
Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2. Big baddies are here to destroy the cute, cubed planet you call home. Bummer. Now, you must locate, rescue, and recruit reliable teammates you find throughout your crumbling world. Pick four of your faves and build a team you believe in! Craft your crew, equip items, and deploy.
“In addition to soldiers from the mainline EDF series,” the PlayStation blog post explains, “this game also includes soldiers from the EDF spin-offs, and enemies who ravaged the planet in previous releases have also crossed over into this world to join the fight.” Four-player online co-op and two-player local split-screen on PS5 and PS4.
PlayStation Plus Exclusive HorrorFest Packs. PlayStation Plus members can kickstart spooky season early with these horror-themed in-game item bundles, compatible with several popular PS4 and PS5 titles.
Available bundles include the Call of Duty: Warzone Horror Bundle (out October 1), Hunt: Showdown 1896 Starter Pack (October 6), and the Overwatch 2 Dragur Reinhardt + 5 Tier skips Pack (October 7).
In addition to these new games, players can also get limited-run Spider-Man: Brand New Day avatars beginning October 6. These are available exclusively via Sony Pictures Core, the brand’s video-on-demand app featuring movie rentals and other Sony Pictures films.
This offer ends on Tuesday, October 20.
