Liquid Swords, the game developer behind the action-adventure beat-’em-up Samson, has reportedly filed for bankruptcy.
Sweden-based law firm and Liquid Swords administrator Cirio announced the filing in a digitally translated news release, in which the bankruptcy estate “offers the business and its assets for sale.”
A Breakit report cited by Game Talk (via GI.biz) alleges studio employees petitioned for bankruptcy after the studio failed to pay them for two months. The studio is dismissing its entire workforce — 27 employees — as part of the bankruptcy. GI.biz says that these employees’ salaries will “be covered by the Swedish state wage guarantee.”
Law firm Cirio said its contracts “do not transfer with the business, and a takeover of staff requires that a buyer enter into new employment contracts with each employee.”

“Liquid Swords AB, 559275-6240, was declared bankrupt by the Stockholm District Court on October 12, 2026,” the digitally translated Cirio news release starts.
The release then briefly describes Liquid Swords’ history. “Liquid Swords AB develops computer and video games. The company was founded in 2020 and has since built a high-quality and diversified development team with employees with experience from, among others, DICE, Rockstar, Starbreeze and Avalanche Studios. In 2026, the company launched its debut title Samson, an action game with a strong visual identity and clear market potential.
“The assets of the bankruptcy estate consist mainly of intellectual property rights relating to the developed game.”
Cirio subsequently published a preliminary bidding document on Thursday, Oct. 15. Bidding closes on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2026.
