Happy N7 Day, Shep! (Wait — can we ALL be Shepard?)
It’s November 7, and that means it’s time to celebrate Mass Effect‘s Commander Shepard and the other unforgettable faces aboard the Normandy. To kick off Mass Effect festivities, executive producer Mike Gamble shared franchise-focused news in an N7 Day 2025 post to BioWare’s blog. The post confirms the next entry in the sci-fi franchise is currently in development, expands on the upcoming television adaptation from Amazon, and teases even more content to come.
BioWare and Microsoft Game Studios’ Mass Effect first landed on the Xbox 360 in 2007 — nearly 20 years ago, if you can believe it — and the high-octane space opera is still a fan favorite for RPG fans and sci-fi lovers.

BioWare celebrates ‘N7 Day’
Check out the full BioWare blog post from Gamble:
“You guessed it … I come to you with another blog! But each year that I write these, they are important moments of reflection for me. I get to pause and think about how truly lucky we are to have Mass Effect, and how thankful we are for the community and support we get. We’ve been through a lot together, and we appreciate you.
“Like you, we’ve heard the rumors lately. You’ve made it clear you care deeply about what’s next. So let’s start by setting the record straight: the next Mass Effect game is in development, and EA and BioWare remain committed to telling more stories in this universe.
“The truth is, the last few years have been an incredibly busy time at BioWare. But currently, the team is heads-down and focused exclusively on Mass Effect. We have a lot of universe to cover, lots of features to build, and lots of romances to figure out. We’re excited by what we’re building, and we promise you: when we’re ready, it’ll be a lot of fun to show. Until then, thank you for your patience because y’all are thirsty for news and I see you looking for secret meaning in my tweets (okay, sometimes they have secret meaning).
“Beyond the next game, there’s more to get excited about. I haven’t talked about it much, but you might have heard a little something about a TV series? We’ve been partnering closely with Amazon on it, and we’re really excited with what the talented team over there is coming up with.
“The writers room is going strong, and we’ve got a lot figured out about how it fits within the Mass Effect canon, and where it sits in respect to the new game. The show will explore a brand-new story within the universe’s timeline, and will be set after the original trilogy. It won’t be a retread of Commander Shepard’s story – because after all … that’s YOUR story, isn’t it?
“Keep an eye on our social channels for more celebrations today including some awesome new Mass Effect gear, free crossover items appearing in skate. and Apex Legends, and more.”
In addition to news about Mass Effect‘s next entry, Gamble also touched on the Amazon TV adaptation. The blog post confirmed the program won’t pick up where player character Commander Shepard left off, shooting down longstanding fan rumors regarding the show’s possible plot.
Wait—what’s that?
After signing off, Gamble ensures fans that there’s no secret game-related info found within his message. “PS – Disclaimer: there is no secret game information to be gleaned by anything I’m saying today, I promise.” But the post’s selective utilization of italics may lead pattern-oriented readers to believe otherwise.

When pulled from the text, Gamble’s italicized letters read “url krogan n7,” surely a nod to the sci-fi series’ alien species in the Mass Effect universe. While I’m sure Urdnot Wrex is feeling seen right now, neither the studio nor the series’s executive producer has disclosed just what the characters might mean.
If you add that phrase to the N7 Day 2025 post URL, you’ll be redirected to a new page. The webpage — an old post from 2012 about a multiplayer event — contains an unassuming link to the homepage at the bottom. But when clicked, the link takes users to the Mass Effect: Legendary Edition page. The Legendary Edition didn’t exist in 2012; Mass Effect: Legendary Edition didn’t release until Spring 2021. Could BioWare and Electronic Arts be teasing upcoming multiplayer capabilities for Legendary Edition players?
This is a developing story, so keep an eye on Outrun Gaming and BioWare’s social media accounts for updates as they become available. Happy N7 Day!
