About indie game publisher Akupara Games

US-based Akupara Games was first established in October 2016 by developer David Logan. The studio shipped its first formal release, Rogue Snail’s Star Vikings Forever, in 2017. In the decade since, Akupara Games has helped publish nearly 50 games from independent dev teams around the world.
“We aim to be the industry’s most trusted independent label and thought leader,” reads the studio’s website, “where the ‘Akupara’ name serves as a global signal for games with soul, craft, and enduring impact.”
When it comes to company ethos, Akupara doesn’t mince words. The publisher’s credo is prominently displayed on its website, with fundamental tenets such as accessibility, representation, and community outreach shown front and center.
The fully remote label also lists “no-crunch culture” among its priorities, a scarce but certainly welcome promise for industry creatives. Akupara’s employee benefits include ongoing training, internal promotions, parental leave, healthcare coverage, PTO, and other increasingly rare non-wage compensation. You really do love to see it.
