007 First Light gets free ‘Extended Operations’ DLC

Look alive, Bond! On Thursday, IO Interactive’s blockbuster spy RPG 007 First Light got its first big DLC expansion — a free one, at that — bringing tons of new content, quality-of-life changes, an in-game Photo Mode, new gameplay difficulties, and much more.

IO Interactive shared 1.3.0 Update details in a new Steam post, detailing all the changes spies will see when they log in for their next mission. The most notable changes include New Game+, Photo Mode, a brutal new “00” difficulty, and more TacSim content.

The latter now includes the “Jungle Heist taking [players] back to The Pearl in Vietnam” and the “long-awaited Valhalla Protocol.”

“This update delivers some of the features you have been asking for most,” reads the new dev note on Steam. “New Game+, Photo Mode, and a brand-new ’00’ difficulty for those ready to show they’ve truly earned the number.”

According to the First Light team, the “Extended Operations” update adds “over 700 fixes and improvements” ranging from “crashes, progression blockers and clipping issues to audio, localization and UI polish.”

Other adjustments include weapon animation adjustments, improved camera controls, and more granular, stage-specific performance updates.

“Thank you to everyone who has played, reported and shared feedback with us,” devs shared. “It has shaped this update more than you might think. Our work does not stop here. More improvements and content are already in development. Stay tuned for what lies ahead.”

The latest update brings a ton of new content. Here’s what players can look forward to on their next superspy adventure:

NEW GAME+. Players can enjoy the main story again “with the experience of a seasoned agent,” but this mode won’t unlock until you’ve completed at least one standard campaign playthrough.
New Game+ adds Suit Loadout and Gadget flexibility, the former bringing some cosmetic freedom to each mission. “Simply access your journal at any point in your NG+ playthrough to switch outfits and restart from your chosen checkpoint to see your new chosen threads.” Gadget flexibility lets players swap tools as they go.
Feeling bold, Bond? Try the “00” difficulty, which the studio says is “the hardest way to play […] Foes will spot you faster, hit harder, and resources only restore a fraction of your gadget’s usage.”

New TacSim Content. Hop behind the wheel of Bond’s iconic Aston Martin Valhalla in the new TacSim update. This ride puts “machine guns and missile launchers at your command.” Speed demons can also head to Slovakia in the new TacSim Activity and race their hearts out to secure the highest score.
The “Jungle Heist” operation takes players back to The Pearl Hotel in Vietnam, where they’ll case the place, grab some super-secure documents from the villa, and get outta dodge.
As you progress and reach new Clearance Levels, you’ll unlock all kinds of new weapons. New cosmetics, however, are “unlocked by default.” Nice trench, Bond.

Photo Mode. Smile, 007! “Freeze the moment and frame the perfect shot. Capture Bond, the locations and the action from your own angle. Choose between camera settings, overlays, filters, visual effects and poses to create your best shots. We can’t wait to see your masterpieces.”

Good luck, 007. Don’t mess this up. Poor Moneypenny’s got a lot on her plate already, y’know…
