As video game showcase season revs up, gamers and developers can add one more special event to their calendars: The Indie Premier, an all-new hybrid showcase scheduled to air online and run from Thursday, July 2, 2026, through Sunday, July 5, 2026, at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh, PA.
The indie game showcase, first announced last week, has officially opened submissions and hopes to put independent developers’ projects in the spotlight. The organization says it’s specifically seeking “games that challenge convention,” using “unconventional genre blends,” “striking visual directions,” and “deeply passionate stories from developers and studios who have something to say.”
The Indie Premier, organized in partnership with Unity PGH, serves as a curated platform to showcase unique games from developers worldwide.
The Indie Premier: How to participate
The hybrid indie showcase is accepting game submissions from now through Wednesday, June 10, 2026, with accepted submissions appearing before “a dedicated audience of players and judges.” The panel of judges, according to the organization, will feature “prominent indie game figures and influencers.”
The Indie Premier’s hybrid format means developers’ projects reach potential players in Pittsburgh and global viewers watching from home. Participants will also have the chance to compete for physical and digital awards, such as:
- Grand Indie Champ — Honoring the standout title of the showcase across all dimensions.
- Gameplay Mastery — Recognizing exceptional mechanics, design, and player experience.
- Visual Virtuoso — Celebrating outstanding artistry, aesthetics, and visual design.
- Master Mix Award — Awarded for excellence in audio design, sound, and music.
Selected titles will have the opportunity to participate in both the in-person showcase and the Indie Premier Steam Event.
Are you an independent game developer hoping to get your work in front of new audiences? Submit your project here, but be sure to do so before midnight on Wednesday, June 10, to be considered. Be sure to verify your eligibility via The Indie Premier’s Submission Guidelines.
