During Sony’s PlayStation State of Play presentation on Thursday, CAPCOM shared a brand-new trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, a massive content expansion coming to PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, and PC via Steam sometime next year.
The breathtaking new trailer teased titanic monsters, slick mechanics, and more changes coming to the Forbidden Lands.
Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, set after the main story of last February’s hit, Monster Hunter Wilds, follows the Forbidden Lands Expedition Team as they navigate destruction and devastation at the hands of Elder Dragon Lao-Shan Lung.

“The Wilds evolve with the massive expansion, Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, coming in 2027,” reads the trailer’s official YouTube description. “A giant dragon’s sudden siege heralds change in the Forbidden Lands, for both land and sky. Bracing for danger, the Expedition steels themselves as familiar and undiscovered Elder Dragons emerge – and a disturbing new threat prowls the land.”
Players will meet new monsters as they admire gorgeous visuals and follow gripping story developments. The first we’ve seen, Araketa, is a high-flying, pack-hunting creature capable of creating disabling air currents with its wings.
Elder Dragon Gundoraja made an appearance in the trailer, too. Look for the colossal, wispy-haired snake-beast. Y’know, frightening face, storm-bending abilities. You can’t miss him.
Today’s trailer also showed off the new Boost Bracer equipment, with which players can create powerful combos and master mobility maneuvers as they face increasingly intense opponents.
