PUNCH IT, BABY! On Thursday, NASCAR and iRacing Studios released a new developer diary trailer for NASCAR 26, the latest franchise entry heading to PC via Steam, PS5, and XBOX Series X|S later this month.
In the new Dev Diary — actually the crew’s third — hear about all-new additions coming to the game, from career mode enhancements and visual improvements to brand-new game modes and customization opportunities.
The upcoming racing sim follows its successful predecessor NASCAR 25, which hit PC and consoles mid-October of last year. Both comprise a formal creative collaboration between NASCAR and leading racing sim team iRacing Studios.
Like 25, this year’s release features four NASCAR Series — NASCAR Cup, O’Reilly Auto Parts, Craftsman Truck, and ARCA Menards — with a few real drivers from each series featured, too.
Speaking of real drivers, 26‘s cover trades trio Christopher Bell, Ryan Blaney, and William Byron for star Kyle Larson. You’ll feel like a real driver in this one, too, because NASCAR 26 will reportedly feature a dynamic new track system that evolves each race weekend.
In addition to more on the regular strategic planning that follows drivers throughout their in-game careers, devs share details about The Chase, a new customizable standalone mode where racers fight for a championship over the season’s final 10 races against a field of your choice. Developers also divulge details about NASCAR 26‘s new Peak Performance feature, revamped paint kits, enhanced driver ratings, cross-platform multiplayer compatibility, and more.
Brand leaders at iRacing Studios are confident their upcoming NASCAR game will define the niche. “Our fans told us they wanted iRacing Studios to build the next NASCAR console game, and they delivered,” NASCAR’s Interactive & Emerging Platforms Vice President Nick Rend said in a news release this past July.
“The response to NASCAR 25 reflected the momentum we’re seeing around NASCAR video games, and NASCAR 26 takes another meaningful step forward with improvements across the entire experience, from how the cars drive and tracks evolve to cross-platform play that brings the community together. This is the most complete and authentic NASCAR console game we have delivered.”
PC players can wishlist NASCAR 26 now on Steam; PS5 and XBOX owners can pre-order or wishlist via their console’s digital storefront.
Those who pre-order NASCAR 26 can choose from the Standard Edition and Gold Edition — $59.99 and $79.99, respectively. To no one’s surprise, the latter comes with its own set of premium perks; players who purchase the game’s Gold Edition will receive three days’ Early Access that kicks off on September 15, four monthly paint scheme DLC packs, career mode rep points, a solid career bonus, and some other premium goodies.
