Offbeat romance sim Date Everything! sells 1m copies

Date Everything!, the viral dating simulator from developer Sassy Chap Games and publisher Team17, has officially surpassed 1 million units sold since its Summer 2025 launch. The unconventional indie blockbuster celebrated its first anniversary in June with a special “Self Care” update.

The Date Everything! team revealed the milestone in a news release on Thursday, with studio leaders sharing their gratitude with loyal players.

“A million copies sold is a truly unbelievable milestone for all of the talented artists and designers who poured their hearts and souls into this game to make it what it is,” said Date Everything! co-creator and Sassy Chap Games CEO Robbie Daymond.

“As co-creator of Date Everything! and CEO of Sassy Chap Games, I couldn’t be more proud of our team or more grateful to the legions of passionate fans who made this possible. Thank you for trusting us with your energy, hard-earned support and precious gaming time. We love you!”

To better thank its dedicated fanbase and celebrate the milestone, developer Sassy Chap Games announced it will host a charity livestream on Wednesday, Nov. 18, benefiting both The Trevor Project and Doctors Without Borders.

Sassy Chap says the upcoming event will unite Date Everything!‘s talented creators, star-studded cast, and fans for milestone-related merrymaking and a collective mission to raise funds for two beloved charitable organizations that benefit vulnerable populations worldwide.

The broadcast will kick off on November 18 at 3 p.m. EST/6 p.m. PST, and you can tune in via the official Date Everything! Twitch channel and its Instagram and TikTok accounts.

“I’m so overwhelmed with love with the response from our community, so it felt important to give back,” said Ray Chase, co-creator of Date Everything! and Sassy Chap Games CCO.

“This game succeeded far beyond our wildest dreams! Seeing all the fan art, fan-fic, and continued word of mouth well over a year after release feels like wind in our sails.”

In Date Everything!, players enter a brow-raising world where all household objects, from the fridge to the furnace, transform from inanimate appliances into very human, very romanceable characters.

You were just laid off from a gargantuan, greedy globocorp when a mysterious drone-delivered package arrives on your doorstep. You tear into the box and quickly discover a pair of clear-framed aviator shades with rose-colored lenses, called “Dateviators.” What happens when you put ’em on? Hmmm…

The game’s unconventional premise and stunning art style were enough to lure me, but the crew took it a step further by giving every household item its own distinct (likely recognizable) voice.

More than 100 voice actors lent their voices to the project, including Felicia Day, Matthew Mercer, Ben Starr, Neil Newbon, Brennan Lee Mulligan, Fred Tatasciore, SungWon Cho, and even the late, great Eric Bauza.

Leaders at Sassy Chap Games say the game’s success contributes to its larger industry goals of “bringing together talented creators and passionate communities to build original stories, characters, and worlds with the potential to grow beyond a single game.”

“We believe the next generation of beloved characters and worlds will come from creator-led games,” said Sassy Chap Games COO Logan Burdick.

“Date Everything! shows the power of that vision. By bringing together an extraordinary community of creators around original stories, we’ve shown that this approach can lead to real commercial success while building the kind of passionate, engaged audience that the most resonant entertainment brands are built upon.”
