Not long after acquiring rights from HITMAN developer-publisher IO Interactive, embattled indie game studio Build a Rocket Boy is reducing retail prices for its controversial action-adventure shooter, Mindseye. In a news release shared on Tuesday, Build a Rocket Boy (BARB) said it would permanently drop the game’s retail price and offer access to the controversial new “BLACKLISTED” mission via ARCADIA, MindsEye’s “built-in user-generated content platform.”
The “BLACKLISTED” story mission — Mindseye‘s first new campaign since the game’s launch in June 2025 — is a tale of “espionage, deceit, and sabotage in Redrock City,” the studio’s news release explains. “In MindsEye: BLACKLISTED, players step into the role of Julia Black, a world-class assassin deployed by Meridian to Redrock City. Her mission is simple: eliminate the key targets and shut down a deadly deal. Working for Meridian, an agency under pressure from both external forces and internal threats, every move Julia makes carries risk. Julia must infiltrate the criminal network, sabotage a deadly deal, and expose the truth.”
At the time of writing, the Standard and Deluxe Editions of MindsEye are available on Windows PC via Steam and Epic Games, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S for $34.99 and $47.99, respectively.
Real-world corporate controversy inspires new ‘Mindseye’ mission

Last month, BARB announced its second round of employee layoffs since June 2025. The studio, first formed in 2016 by former Rockstar Games North executive and alleged “Epstein list” item Leslie Benzies, shared layoff news on social media platform LinkedIn before, in the same post, alleging that an organized corporate cabal had expertly sabotaged Mindseye‘s release. “Over the past months [sic] we have been working with external partners and legal advisors to investigate the criminal activity that took place around our launch,” the post reads. “That work has taken far longer than expected, but it has now resulted in overwhelming evidence of organized espionage and corporate sabotage affecting MindsEye. Because this matter is moving toward prosecution, we cannot share the full details yet.”
It’s these allegations that fueled the creation of Mindseye‘s new “BLACKLISTED” mission. But as the beleaguered Build a Rocket Boy oversees its relaunch, employees are taking legal action against the studio. According to Insider Gaming, a new lawsuit filed by former team members alleges that company leadership used Teramind surveillance software to monitor employees’ hardware without their consent. The Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain (IWGB) is representing BARB employees alleging corporate privacy violations.
